Following on from sharing Southlakes Roosters post about Ali yesterday we thought we would share how close this has hit.
Our son plays in the 12 boys team, we are proud sponsors of the club & Michael is the treasurer.
Our feelings are that it would be SO great for the whole Lake Macquarie community to come together on Saturday whether you know a player or not, to show our support for the young people in our community and cheer them all on so they can really feel that community connection. We all know we could do with a bit more of this old school togetherness.
15 homes games are being played, you can enjoy a bbq, snacks or ice creams 😋
It’s a terrible tragedy that has happened to one of our own, let’s show Ali’s family, friends & team mates that they have our support and the young kids of our community all the love and support 🩷

🩷 DO IT FOR ALI 🩷

This weekend, the Southlakes Roosters will come together to honour the life of our beautiful teammate, Alisha (Ali).

While Ali played with our Under 12WT team during the 2026 season, she was also very much a part of our Under 14WT family, spending the entire pre-season training alongside them before moving into the Under 12s to continue developing her skills as she began her rugby league journey.

Over the past week, Ali's Under 12WT teammates have done a beautiful job of remembering their friend. This weekend, our wider Roosters family will have the opportunity to stand beside them as we pay tribute to a much-loved member of our Club.

We have also extended an invitation to our fellow Hunter Junior Rugby League Under 12WT teams to honour Ali at their games this weekend.

Some ideas include:

💗 Wearing a pink ribbon
💗 Wearing three plaits or braids, in recognition of Ali's playing number, 3
💗 Wearing a wristband with
💗 Observing a minute silence before your match, where scheduling permits.

Here at Southlakes, our players will also honour Ali in several special ways throughout the day.

We know this will be an emotional day for many. Support will be available at our home ground for any player, parent, carer, volunteer or supporter who may need it.

Thank you to everyone who has wrapped their arms around Ali's family, her teammates and our Club over the past week. Your compassion has reminded us of what the rugby league community is all about.
