The 2026-27 car limit is $69,883 - the maximum value you can use for depreciation deductions on business vehicles, regardless of what you pay. The GST credit is capped at $6,353. Luxury Car Tax applies above $80,809 (or $91,661 for fuel-efficient vehicles). Before committing to a purchase, model the after-tax cost with your accountant. Details at the link.

The High Court handed down a significant decision on trust distributions in June. Unpaid distributions to corporate beneficiaries are no longer automatically treated as Division 7A loans - removing compliance burdens for many private business groups. Existing loan agreements still need minimum repayments, and other integrity rules still apply. The Government has also proposed a 30% minimum tax on trusts from 1 July 2028. SMSF borrowing rules changed in June - and the "residential property ban" framing misses the nuance. The Business Real Property test is about usage, not zoning.
