This lovely couple - our amazing clients, surprised Andy (one of our principal financial planners) with some freshly roasted coffee beans 🫘 They actually roast these beautiful beans! They clearly know he’s a coffee lover and that he might need a few extra cups to power through his busy schedule 😅☕ Big thanks to them! 😄🫶🏻

🌧️🌧️ This week, Phoebe and Andy, our 2 advisers had the opportunity to attend the conference at ICC Sydney, despite the busy End-of-Financial-Year period. The event featured insightful speakers from leading global financial institutions, including Luci Ellis, Chief Economist at Westpac Bank, Rajiv Jain, CIO at GQG Partners, and more.
Discussions covered a range of topics, such as the overvaluation of US stocks, the growing shift from public to private credit inflows, the value of Japanese stock markets, and the critical role of active strategies in today’s market environment—where valuation should take precedence over just focusing on portfolio weights.
At KWS, we are committed to staying at the forefront of both macro and microeconomic developments. Our role is to continuously seek out and identify opportunities tailored to our clients’ specific goals and situations. 💪🏻

Rate cut🗡️ – what does it mean for you? As anticipated by many, the RBA today announced a 0.25% rate reduction in response to the easing of domestic inflation. At the same time, global economic uncertainty has grown over the past few months, with financial markets experiencing significant volatility. While some, including business owners and those with mortgages on their homes or investment properties, are celebrating the move, others – particularly retirees who depend on fixed-term deposits – may be feeling the pinch.

Do you know if your superannuation offers any global investment funds with hedging❓
💹 Hedging is essentially like taking out insurance for your investments. When a managed fund says it ‘hedges currencies,’ it means they employ strategies to protect against the risk of currency fluctuations—something especially important for funds that invest in global markets. 🌎
Why hedge❓
If you believe the US dollar is going to drop against the AUD, hedging can be an effective way to reduce currency risk. Without hedging, the value of your US investments in AUD terms would decrease as the US dollar weakens.
On the other hand, if you expect the US dollar to rise against the AUD, hedging may not be necessary from a currency risk perspective. In this scenario, the value of your US investments in AUD terms would increase as the US dollar strengthens.
In short, hedging is a tool for managing currency risk based on your outlook for currency movements. If you anticipate the foreign currency will weaken, hedging helps protect your investment. If you think it will strengthen, you might prefer to leave your investments unhedged to benefit from the favorable exchange rate movements.
