Property Investors — Important Update
If property investment has been on your radar, we are currently advising our clients to treat this as a matter of urgency.
There are increasing indications from the Federal Government that Capital Gains Tax (CGT) will be increased and negative gearing benefits will be drastically reduced and may be announced in the upcoming Federal Budget on 12 May.
While nothing has been formally legislated at this stage, historically when changes of this nature have been introduced, they have applied to investments entered into after Budget Night.
This means investors who have signed contracts and paid deposits prior to the Budget announcement (7:30pm AEST) have been immune to the new rules.
Given the potential impact these changes could have on long-term investment outcomes, we encourage anyone considering purchasing an investment property to seek advice and act sooner rather than later.
