Hello Friends,

Welcome to your October 2026 Rede Newsletter.

We hope that the following and attached information is beneficial to your Business and Personal taxation needs.

Do You Pay Award Transport Payments?

There has been a change to PAYG Withholding and STP reporting for award transport payments from 1 October 2026.

Previously amounts that were paid as Award Transport Payments were treated differently to other payments; they were reported separately on a payment summary and PAYGW was varied to NIL.

As from 1 October 2026 employers must withhold tax from these payments, and the amounts are no longer reported separately on a payment summary.
You should advise your employees to keep records of there work related travel in order to claim a deduction.

There are two methods to update your STP reporting in your payroll system, and further information regarding this is located at the Australian Taxation Office website located here -
https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/hiring-and-paying-your-workers/single-touch-payroll/in-detail/single-touch-payroll-phase-2-employer-reporting-guidelines/changes-to-award-transport-payments

If you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support and loyalty, we really do appreciate it!

All the best,

Hello Friends,
Welcome to your July 2026 Rede Newsletter.

Much is changing in the Business and Taxation environment from July 2026

Payday super is likely to have an impact on every small business cash flow.
Having to pay your super guarantee of 12% within a few days of each payday weekly fortnightly or monthly will squeeze many small businesses

Under Payday Super rules, Qualifying Earnings (QE) is the standardized earnings base used to calculate both your standard Super Guarantee. It generally consists of an employee's ordinary hours of work, replacing the older, sometimes confusing "ordinary time earnings" (OTE) term.

Please make contact with your Rede Client Manager if you feel these changes may result in difficulty in paying your ATO obligations on time, or if you require clarification on Qualifying Earnings?

The ATO is warning all taxpayers against lodging your income tax return too early in case the prefill information is not complete, or if your PAYG Summary is not yet finalised.

As employers, ensure you have finalised your Single Touch Payroll reporting for your workers, prepare & lodge your Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR), report your actual wages for WorkCover and Payroll Tax , pay your Superannuation obligations, and prepare your records for the year just ended.

Thank you for your continued support and loyalty, we really do appreciate it!

All the best,

Hello Friends,
Welcome to your April 2026 Rede Newsletter.

The Australian Government has launched several relief measures for small businesses affected by the 2026 fuel crisis, including a $1 billion interest-free loan program and targeted tax relief.

Interest-Free Government Loans

As part of the National Fuel Security Plan, the government is providing support through its Economic Resilience Program:

Targeted Support:
Loans are specifically for businesses in critical supply chains, including freight, transport, fuel, and fertiliser producers.

Funding Pool:
A $1 billion pool allocated from the National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) will provide zero-interest loans to help with short-term liquidity.

Loan Terms:
Typical terms are expected to be around seven years, with roughly $500 million available annually over the next two years.

Eligibility:
To qualify, businesses must meet the NRF's criteria of being solely or mainly Australian-based.

ATO "Fuel Response" Tax Relief

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has introduced a tailored payment plan for eligible businesses struggling with tax debts due to high fuel costs:

Interest-Free Repayments:
The ATO may remit General Interest Charges (GIC) for businesses that meet their first three months of instalments on a tailored plan.

Flexible Terms:
Plans offer up to 36 months to repay tax debt with no upfront payment required.

PAYG Variations:
Businesses can vary their PAYG instalments if higher fuel costs have significantly reduced their taxable income, improving immediate cash flow.

Eligibility:
Applicants must hold an ABN and demonstrate that their reduced capacity to pay is directly or indirectly linked to higher fuel/transport costs rather than general cash flow issues.

Additional Financial Relief

Fuel Excise Cut:
A 50% reduction in fuel excise (totaling 32 cents per litre including GST relief) is in effect from April 1 to June 30, 2026.

Heavy Vehicle Charge:
The Heavy Vehicle Road User Charge has been cut to zero for the three months ending June 30, 2026, providing further relief for trucking and freight operators.

Energy Bill Rebates:
Eligible small businesses may receive up to $150 in energy bill relief for the 2025–26 financial year.

Would you like help checking the specific eligibility criteria for the ATO Fuel Response plan or more information on state-based grants for fuel efficiency?
