SMSF Trustees: Big Changes Could Be Ahead
The Government has announced proposed SMSF reforms aimed at strengthening trustee accountability, improving education and reducing fraud risks.
Potential changes include mandatory trustee education, stronger safeguards around rollovers, uniquely identifiable SMSF bank accounts, increased scrutiny of investment strategies and greater transparency around financial advice fees.
The proposed reforms would also change SMSF-related levies, including an increase in the annual supervisory levy to $295 and a CSLR contribution of up to $20 per leviable period.
📌 These are proposed reforms, so trustees should stay informed as legislation and implementation details develop.
