Tax time has a way of sneaking up when you least expect it. 😅The good news? A little bit of planning throughout the year makes all the difference when the bill finally lands.
Here's how to stay ahead of it:
📊 Track your income and outgoings as you go, not just at the end.
💰 Put a portion aside regularly so the payment doesn't catch you short.
🗂️ Stay on top of your paperwork so nothing gets lost or forgotten.
📅 Touch base with your accountant before major deadlines roll around.
A little consistency now means a lot less stress later. Our team at TaxPurpose is ready to help you build a plan that keeps you financially confident all year round.

Most business owners only think about tax once a year, right before the deadline hits. But the businesses that actually get ahead treat it as an ongoing habit, not a once-a-year scramble.
It's less about ticking a box once a year, and more about running your business with a clearer head all year long.
Reach out to our team and let's get your tax working for you, not against you.

Owe the ATO for unpaid tax or super? The timing of when you deal with it matters more than most business owners realise.
The ATO's own guidance is clear: businesses that engage early and set up a payment plan are usually better placed to get back on track, while those who don't respond can face Director Penalty Notices, garnishees and other firmer recovery action.
If your business has fallen behind, talking to someone before the ATO makes the next move is almost always the better option.

From 1 July 2026, employers must pay super with every pay run, not quarterly. Funds need to receive it within 7 business days, and missing it means the Super Guarantee Charge applies.
This is now law, so it's worth checking your payroll system is set up correctly before it catches you out.

New financial year, new numbers to know.
From FY 2026–27, individuals can claim a $1,000 standard work deduction — no receipts needed if you choose it (this is now law). For small businesses, the $20,000 instant asset write-off has been proposed to become permanent, though this is not yet law.
Knowing what's confirmed and what's still proposed can make a real difference to how you plan your return.

🚨 The ATO already knows more about your rental than you think.
Rental returns are under more scrutiny than ever. The ATO now cross-checks data from:
✔️ Property managers
✔️ Banks
✔️ Landlord insurers
✔️ Bond authorities
✔️ Airbnb & other platforms
If your deductions don't line up with what's being reported from these sources, it could trigger a review — and errors are more common than most investors realise.
Is your rental return defensible? Let's find out before the ATO does.

🚨 MYTH BUSTER: “I’ll see my super in my account as soon as I get paid.”
Not always.
From 1 July 2026, Australia’s new Payday Super rules mean employers generally need to pay your super when they pay your wages, instead of paying it quarterly.
However…
That doesn’t necessarily mean the contribution will appear in your super account on the same day.
Here’s why 👇
✅ Your employer pays the contribution.
➡️ It may then pass through a payroll system or clearing house.
➡️ Your super fund receives and processes the payment.
➡️ The contribution is then allocated to your member account.
Under the new rules, the contribution should generally reach your super fund within 7 business days of payday (with some exceptions, such as certain new employees).
So if you don’t see your super immediately…
Don’t panic.
✔️ Check your super account after a few business days.
✔️ Review your contributions through the ATO app or Online services.
✔️ Contact your employer or super fund if you believe there’s an unreasonable delay.
The new Payday Super reforms are designed to improve transparency, reduce unpaid super and help Australians build their retirement savings sooner.
