The fixed rate method covers your additional running expenses for:
✅ Electricity & gas
✅ Phone & internet usage
✅ Stationery & computer consumables (like printer ink)
Remember, you can’t claim a separate deduction for these expenses anywhere else in your tax return.
You can, however, claim a separate deduction for depreciating assets you use for work (like that laptop). Just make sure you work out the decline in value & claim over a number of years.
