A small change to your credit card terms can have a surprisingly big impact on cash flow.
We’re seeing ANZ customers receive updates to their credit card payment terms, including shorter payment windows and changes to the number of interest-free days available on some cards.
Why does this matter?
If you’re used to paying your card on the same schedule every month, a shorter due date can mean money needs to leave the business sooner than expected.
And if the full closing balance isn’t paid by the due date, you may lose the benefit of your interest-free period and start incurring interest on purchases. ANZ recommends checking the due date on each statement and the specific terms applying to your card.
Our reminder:
• Read any recent notices from your bank
• Check the due date on your next statement
• Review your automatic payment dates
• Make sure your cash-flow planning reflects any shorter payment window
• Don’t assume the terms you’ve always had are staying the same
And this isn’t just an ANZ conversation - it’s a good reminder to regularly review the terms on all business and personal credit facilities.
The fine print can change. Your cash-flow plan should change with it.

A little behind the scenes at The BookSitters 🚆💜
An early start in Mittagong, a dark train ride into Sydney, and a day spent at Xero HQ for some in-person training.
Xero doesn’t often offer face-to-face training sessions like this, so when the opportunity came up, it was absolutely worth stepping away from the office for the day.
For us, professional development isn’t just about ticking a box. Staying up to date with the systems and software our clients use every day means we can work smarter, solve problems faster and continue giving our clients the best possible support.
It also means taking time out of a busy schedule to keep learning - because there is always something new to bring back to the team and put into practice.
A big day, but a very worthwhile one.
Swipe through for a look at the journey from Mittagong to Xero HQ in Sydney. ➡️

A little local business love 💜
Justine recently stopped by Belle La Vie Salon in Bowral to see Michelle Petersen - a fellow local business owner and one of The BookSitters’ wonderful clients.
One of the things we love most about working with small businesses is getting to know the people behind them. There is something really special about supporting local business owners, watching their businesses grow and being part of the journey along the way.
Michelle recently sent us this lovely message:
“Thanks again for yesterday you are amazing, educating and empowering people to succeed!”
Messages like this mean a lot to us, because that is exactly what we want our clients to feel: informed, supported and more confident in their business.
And of course, a fresh hair appointment never hurts either!

There is a big difference between having someone who processes your books and having a team that understands your business.
As a business grows, the financial side often becomes more complex too.
More staff. More invoices. More reporting. More compliance. More decisions.
And trying to manage all of that yourself can quickly take time away from the work you actually want to be doing.
At The BookSitters, we work alongside our clients to provide practical, ongoing financial support - from bookkeeping and payroll through to BAS, reporting and the systems that keep everything running smoothly.
Our aim is simple: give you greater clarity around your numbers, fewer financial headaches and a team you can turn to when questions come up.
You don’t need to know everything about your books.
You just need the right people in your corner.

At The BookSitters, good bookkeeping starts with good people.
Behind every reconciled account, payroll run, BAS lodgement and financial report is a team working together to make life easier for the businesses we support.
We believe our clients should feel like they have a financial team in their corner - people who understand their business, communicate clearly and genuinely care about getting things right.
That means sharing knowledge, supporting each other and bringing different skills and experience to the table so our clients receive consistent, reliable support.
Because while numbers are an important part of what we do, relationships are just as important.
We’re proud of the team behind The BookSitters and the work they do every day to help business owners feel more confident about their finances.

Big things happen when great local businesses connect. 🤝
We’re excited to support another growing Australian trade business as they work toward an ambitious goall for the next 12 months.
With a strong reputation in electrical and air-conditioning services, their focus is now on helping more customers replace ageing split systems and install efficient new ones, while building the systems, marketing and financial foundations needed for sustainable growth.
At The Booksitters, we do more than look after the numbers. We help business owners understand them, plan confidently and turn growth goals into action.
Know your numbers. Make life count.

If your business currently passes card processing fees on to customers, there is an important change coming.
From 1 October 2026, businesses will no longer be able to add a separate surcharge when customers pay by debit or credit card.
For businesses currently using systems such as Stripe to automatically pass merchant fees on to customers, now is the time to review how payments and pricing are structured.
You may need to consider options such as:
• Encouraging customers to pay using alternative payment methods such as direct debit
• Reviewing your overall pricing to account for card processing costs
• Updating payment systems and checkout settings
• Reviewing invoices, payment terms and customer communications before the change takes effect
The RBA has indicated that businesses may choose to incorporate card payment costs into their advertised prices rather than charging them separately at checkout.
October will come around quickly, so it is worth reviewing your setup now rather than waiting until the last minute.

Your business has grown. Has your financial support grown with it?
What worked when you were starting out may not be enough once you have more clients, more staff, more transactions and more decisions to make.
That is where the right financial support can make a real difference.
At The BookSitters, we work alongside business owners who want more than simply keeping the books up to date. We help create the systems, visibility and financial structure needed to support the next stage of business.
From bookkeeping, payroll and BAS through to reporting and ongoing support, our goal is to make sure you have confidence in your numbers and clarity around what comes next.
Because growing a business is challenging enough without wondering whether your finances are keeping up.
If your business is changing, expanding or simply becoming more complex, it might be time for your financial support to change with it too.
