If your business couldn't use a credit card for its next tax bill, would the cash be there? ๐ณ
That's a question worth asking as you prepare for the ATO's planned credit card payment change after 30 June 2027.
The extended transition period gives businesses more time to plan, but the cash-flow question remains.
Using a credit card to pay tax can shift the actual cash outflow into a later billing cycle. That can provide useful breathing room โ but it can also make an underlying working-capital problem less obvious.
BAS, PAYG withholding, PAYG instalments and income tax shouldn't consistently arrive as unexpected cash requirements. They should form part of your financial forecasting. ๐
So rather than asking only:
โHow else will I pay the ATO?โ
Consider asking:
โWhere will the cash come from when the liability falls due?โ
Planning ahead can make a significant difference.
