Does growing your wealth actually buy you more time? Turns out, research says yes, but only if that's what you're using it for.
Studies out of Harvard Business School and the University of British Columbia found that people who spend money to buy back time (think: outsourcing the jobs you dread, or investing in a plan that lets you step back sooner) are consistently happier than those who just accumulate more stuff. And it held true whether people were on an average income or millionaires.
As we settle into the new financial year, it's worth asking: is your money working to grow your bank balance, or to grow your time for the things that actually matter, family, health, freedom?

Big news from the RPWM office β our EA Kimberlee has officially moved into her family's forever home! π‘π
Her old "office" was the kitchen table (or the couch, depending on the day). When it came time to decide on the house, Thabojan ran some cash flow numbers with her to help bring some clarity to the decision.
We love seeing our own team benefit from the same thinking we apply for our clients every day. Congratulations Kimberlee; well deserved!

Our founder Thabojan made an appearance in Livewire Markets last month!
The question posed to him and two other advisers: if every Aussie kid got a $1,000 investment account at birth (like the new U.S. "Trump Accounts"), what single fund should it go into?
It's a fun thought experiment, but it points to something we talk about with clients all the time: don't put all your eggs in one basket, even if that basket is your home country. Australia is a small slice of the global market, so real diversification usually means looking well beyond our own borders.
This is part of what we check in on with clients every year as part of our Investment Progress review, making sure portfolios stay balanced as markets move, not just set-and-forget.
Curious what the other two advisers picked? Full article linked in the comments π

Why is money important to you?
Not a trick question. Just one worth sitting with. For most people it's not about the number itself, it's what that number lets them do: more time with family, less worry, the freedom to make a change.
Knowing your answer makes every financial decision easier.

You can always earn more money.
You can never earn more time.
It's a small reframe, but it changes the decisions people make β about work, about retirement, about what "enough" actually looks like.

Say hello to Charry Ann Santiago, who's been part of our Client Services team since May!
Charry Ann joined us after five years in customer service across large US organisations and time spent supporting a financial planning firm in Canberra. A few months in now, she's loving the chance to learn more about financial planning while working alongside our advisers and Client Services crew.
A bit about Charry Ann: she's usually either training for her next running event or marathon, out hiking somewhere new, or at home baking up a new recipe with her cats supervising nearby.
We're glad to have her on board. Welcome to the team, Charry Ann!

There's a version of wealth management that only talks about money.
At RPWM, we think that's incomplete. Because the real question isn't "how much did you make this year", but, "what did that give you back?"
More time with your kids. The ability to step away from the business. A decision made from security, not pressure.
We call this Investment Progress; not just performance, but what your investments are actually buying you: time, optionality, freedom to choose whatever matters most to you.
This is Because Time Is the Greatest Return.
If you had more time back this year β real, unstructured time β what would you do with it? Tell us in the comments β we'd genuinely love to know.

July has been a busy month for us here at RPWM, so we're a little late sharing this one, but it's worth the wait.
Our founder, Thabojan Rasiah, recently sat down with the team from Money & a Good Life from to chat about what good financial advice actually looks like. Not just the numbers, but the clarity and confidence that come from understanding what matters most to you and having a plan to back it up.
π§ Give it a listen: The Real Value of Financial Advice with Thabojan Rasiah, wherever you get your podcasts.
And if it gets you thinking about your own plan, we'd love to hear from you.
