🎶 Here’s the story… welcome to our very own JBS Brady Bunch!
We’re doing things a little differently in Episode 15 of Retirement: The Great Escape Plan. 😄
Jenny has rounded up Warren, Peter, Kaitlin, Daniel and Sharon to find out what makes them tick, what they love about working with clients and, most importantly…
What’s everyone’s superpower? 🦸♀️🦸♂️
Different personalities, different strengths, and plenty of laughs along the way.
But underneath all the fun is something we’re pretty proud of: a team that genuinely loves helping people.

When was the last time you checked who will actually receive your super when you're gone?
It's something many of us complete once and then forget about. But life moves on. Relationships change, families grow, and the nomination you made years ago may no longer reflect the people or wishes that matter to you today.
We've seen clients surprised to discover an old nomination was still in place, had expired, or didn't work the way they thought it did. And unfortunately, these aren't always small details. They can leave families dealing with confusion and difficult conversations at an already emotional time.
As one client's daughter put it so perfectly: "This isn't really a financial conversation. It's a family conversation."
So perhaps this is your reminder to check. Does your super nomination still reflect what you want today?
If you're unsure, reach out to the JBS team. A simple review now could provide enormous peace of mind for you and the people you care about.

Spotted in the wild! 👀📚
There was just a little excitement from Daniel when he spotted The Great Escape Plan sitting proudly on the shelves at Dymocks Melbourne CBD.
We can't blame him. There’s something pretty special about seeing Jenny’s book out there in the real world, ready to help more people rethink what retirement could look like.
If you haven't grabbed your copy yet, consider this your sign!

Aged care decisions are rarely made in isolation.
When an SMSF is involved, decisions about how to fund care can have flow-on effects for your retirement savings, cash flow, tax position, estate planning and ultimately your family.
That’s why taking the time to understand the bigger picture before making a decision can be so valuable.
If aged care is becoming part of the conversation for you or someone you love, reach out to the JBS team. We can help you understand your options and navigate the decisions ahead with greater clarity and confidence.

🎣🌅 Living the retirement dream, NT style!
Huge thanks to our wonderful client Paul for sharing these incredible shots from his recent trip to the Northern Territory, proof that retirement really can be about chasing sunsets (and Golden Trevally)!
📍 That beauty of a Golden Trevally was landed off Maningrida, NT, in the Arafura Sea - what a catch!
🌇 The first sunset? Taken right from the dining table at Barramundi Lodge, Maningrida, not a bad spot for dinner.
🌅 And the second? An equally stunning sunset from Seven Spirit Bay Lodge, Cobourg Peninsula, NT.
At JBS, we love helping our clients build the financial freedom to make moments like these possible. Here's to more adventures, big catches and unforgettable sunsets in retirement! 🙌

Will my money last? What if my health changes? What happens if life throws us a curveball?
These are the retirement questions that don’t always get said out loud.
But they’re conversations Jenny Brown, Warren Hanna and Peter Folk have had with JBS clients many times over the years.
In Episode 14 of Retirement: The Great Escape Plan, they unpack some of retirement’s biggest “what ifs” and share why being prepared doesn’t mean having every possible scenario figured out.
It means knowing that if something changes, you’ll have a plan for what comes next.

Peter and Linda thought they were ready to retire.
Financially, they were.
But six months in, they realised something was missing.
Peter missed the structure of his week. Linda missed the social side of work.
So they made a small change.
Peter started consulting two days a week, and Linda picked up some casual work with a local community organisation.
What surprised them most?
It wasn’t the extra income.
It was how much happier they felt.
“It’s not about needing the money,” Peter told us. “It’s about feeling like I still have something to contribute.”
And that’s something we’re seeing more and more.
Retirement doesn’t have to mean stopping completely. Sometimes it means finding a new rhythm that gives you more freedom while still keeping the parts of work you genuinely enjoy.

“We’ll talk about aged care when we need to.”
But when it’s your mum, your dad, your partner or someone you love, “one day” can suddenly become today.
In Episode 13, JBS client Julie Hyde shares her very personal experience of navigating aged care for her mum.
If you missed this deeply human conversation during the week, pop it on your weekend listening list. 🎧
