Why care about my business value if I'm not selling?

Why care about the value of your business if you’re not selling (and have no intention to ever sell)?

There are *many* events in a business that will trigger a Business Valuation - even if you’re not selling. eg:
* Onboarding a Business Partner
* Applying for Business Finance
* Issuing Shares to Employees
* A Business Partner Exiting
* Applying for insurance

Each of the above events can happen at any stage of an operational business and a Business Valuation will usually depend on the prior 2-3 years of Financial Statements.

If your main objective in those years has been to Save Tax, this will be reflected in those Financial Statements and will mean your business will be valued *lower*.

How might you think about preparing for such Valuation Events better?

We’ve put together a Complimentary Mini-Course that we call “Rich Exit, Poor Exit”.

Is Saving Tax worth working 10 extra years?

In our ‘over the shoulder’ videos, we show a conservative $1m business and explain the difference to the business owner if they were accounting to Save Tax vs accounting to maximise Business Value.

If such a business were to combine four very common Tax Planning techniques, they would be (conservatively):
* Saving $50k+ on tax, but
* Foregoing $750k+ on the Value of their Business

In other words, if your main accounting objective is to save tax, you will need to work at least 10 extra years to save in tax what could have been yours in Business Value today.
How might you save yourself 10 extra years of working?

You mean this is all I get for working 20 years?

Despite all of their hard work over many years, most business owners only find out at sale time, that their business is not worth nearly as much as they thought - if it can even be sold at all.

We see business owners make the same mistake over and over again - to unintentionally devalue their business.

You may not have thought about this, but the amount you will be able to sell your business for will usually depend on the prior 2, 3 possibly 4 years of Financial Statements.

If your main objective in those years has been to Save Tax, this will be reflected in those Financial Statements and will mean your business will be valued *lower*.

How might you better prepare your business to sell?
