💡 A simple Medicare check that could make a difference

Keeping on top of your health often comes with a surprising amount of admin! One detail that can be easy to overlook is your 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Once your eligible out-of-pocket medical costs reach a certain amount during the calendar year, the Medicare Safety Net may help you receive more back. For couples and families, eligible costs can be combined, which may help you reach the threshold sooner.

However, Medicare needs to have your family registered correctly first.

One thing many people don’t realise is that being listed on the same Medicare card doesn’t necessarily mean you’re registered together for the Medicare Safety Net.

It may be worth checking if:

• you’ve recently had a baby
• your children are still dependants
• your family circumstances have changed
• you and your partner aren’t sure whether you’re linked
• your family has had higher medical costs recently

It’s a simple check, but an easy one to miss.

From 1 August 2026, Tax Store Mackay will begin trading under a new name: Ready Accounting (JZJB Pty Ltd).

Tax Store Mackay and Accountant Ready Services have worked closely together for many years. Bringing both businesses together under the Ready Accounting name gives us one clear brand for the support we provide across tax, bookkeeping and advisory.

While our name is changing, not much else is. You will continue to be supported by the same team, from the same office, with the same care you already know.

Whether you come to us for an individual tax return, business tax, bookkeeping, advisory support or a combination of services, you can continue working with us in the same way you do now.

During August and September, you may still see some Tax Store Mackay branding while we finish updating our signs, website, emails and documents.

We are incredibly grateful for the support our clients have shown us over the years and are excited for this next step as Ready Accounting.
