π The June 2026 highlights provide a snapshot of industry performance and emerging trends including total superannuation assets increased by 6.6 percent over the quarter to $4.8 trillion as at June 2026, of which $3.4trillion was in APRA-regulated funds.

If youβve had to pay super for an independent contractor before, Payday Super doesnβt change who is eligible β it changes when super must be paid. β°
Generally, super may be required where a contractor is engaged mainly for their labour, personal effort, skills or time β even if they have an ABN, invoice you, or are called a contractor in the agreement. π§Ύ
From Payday Super, eligible super contributions must be:

Make sure you check your ATO pre-fill information against your own records and declare all business income β including payments from platforms, private clients and cash work. π°
The ATO says around $21 billion in TPAR payments will be pre-filled for eligible taxpayers, making tax time easier and helping reduce errors. β
However, pre-fill may not include all your business income, so keep your records handy. π

Tip: The ATO recommends waiting until after 28 August to lodge, when more TPAR information is expected to be available.

If the June quarter payment wasnβt received by 28 July, the SGC statement is due by 28 August and the SGC must be paid to the ATO.

π The ATO will collect motor vehicle registry data from state and territory authorities for 2025β26 to 2029β30.
