AI is moving fast. Is your business ready to make the most of it? 🤖

I’m excited to be speaking at *AI: The Journey Forward – Bayside Workshop*, a free Small Business Month event designed to help business owners move beyond the hype and discover what AI can actually do for their business.

I’ll be joining Audrey Smith and Peter Kantarelis for a practical session exploring how AI can save time, streamline processes and open up new opportunities, with real-world examples, a live AI Readiness Check and an interactive Q&A.

Whether you’re curious about AI, already experimenting with it or wondering what your next step should be, this is a great opportunity to learn what’s possible and how to put it into practice.

Some recent tax changes created an unexpected issue for people who inherited a share of a rental property from a spouse.

That issue has now been addressed.

The updated rules can protect the existing treatment of certain residential properties transferred following a death or relationship breakdown.

There’s also been a clarification for people who bought a home before 12 May 2026 and later decide to rent it out.

If either situation applies to you, keep your original purchase and ownership records and get advice on how the updated rules apply to your circumstances.

A look back at a great evening exploring the possibilities of AI! 🤖

Last week, I joined fellow speakers at AI: The Journey Forward at GoodSpace Kingsgrove, sharing practical insights and hearing how businesses are exploring ways to work smarter with AI.

From real-world applications to thought-provoking audience questions, it was a great opportunity to discuss how businesses can move beyond the hype and start putting AI to work.

📍 Next stop: Bayside!

I’ll be speaking at the next workshop at Rocksia Hotel, Banksia, this Thursday, 29 October, from 6–9 pm AEDT.

🎟️ It’s free to attend, and LOOKUP is giving away another $5,000 in AI services on the night!

There could be money sitting in super that you’ve completely forgotten about.

More than $21 billion in lost and unclaimed super is currently sitting across Australia, according to the ATO.

Changed jobs? Moved house? Changed your name?

These are just some of the things that can leave an old super account behind.

It takes a few minutes to check through myGov, and you might find an old account worth bringing back into view.

If you find multiple accounts, check the insurance attached to them before consolidating.

If you suddenly needed to reduce your expenses by $10,000, would you know where to start?

A lot of businesses go straight for the biggest line item.

But the biggest expense isn't automatically the one that should be cut.

Look at your P&L. Look for expenses that have crept up, subscriptions nobody uses, duplicated services, unnecessary spending and costs that aren't delivering much value.

Then consider what happens when you remove each one.
Good cost-cutting starts with understanding the numbers.

Travelling overseas? Your travel history could matter at tax time.

The ATO can now compare passenger movement information with its own records, including your arrival and departure dates.

If you’ve spent significant time overseas, worked overseas or moved to or from Australia, keeping accurate travel records can help support your tax residency position.

Keep those flight itineraries, boarding passes and passport records handy.

If your travel history has changed significantly this year, it’s worth checking your tax position before lodging.

If you’ve been using a credit card to pay the ATO, there’s a change worth planning for.

From 1 December 2026, the ATO will no longer accept credit card payments.

For your business, that means it’s worth looking at your upcoming tax obligations now, rather than waiting for the next bill to arrive.

Check what you owe, when it’s due, and whether your cash flow will cover it.

A little planning now can make those tax payments much easier to manage.
