In our most recent ep of Money and a Good Life, Angela Ceberano from Flourish PR joins us to talk about her family’s IVF journey.

During the discussion, Angela shared a story about a stint in hospital with pneumonia so severe her surgeon told her that if she hadn't come in when she did, her organs would have started to shut down.

For Angela, this was a turning point that meant rethinking "working hard". Being part of a generation taught to push through, she hadn’t really stopped to consider slowing down.

Her husband Phil said, “You need a hobby. What did you love as a kid?”. Angela reflected and her answer was horse riding.

From there, her focus moved to creating more space for hobbies, taking breaks and taking time for herself that resulted in her being much more creative. And her business was so much better for it.

This week’s special guest at the office was Nick McDonald.

Nick founded Prestige Inhome Care and led it as CEO for two decades before recently stepping back into a non-executive director role. Before foundign the business, Nick was a paediatric nurse, one of five kids in a family where his father was a doctor.

He spoke to the Tribe about what it takes to grow and scale a business. Nick put a lot of it down to the values he brought from nursing and from his own family. He shared stories about the mentors who backed him along the way, and the factors that keep people motivated when a business is growing fast: belief in what you’re building, a shared sense of purpose and care, and a bit of excitement at the challenge itself.

These days Nick’s traded office hours for time on the golf course (he’s not just playing, he wants to win), plus riding and time with family.

Thanks for coming in and sharing your story with us, Nick.

Well, FY27 is off to a flying start! 💪🏻

Please join us in welcoming not one, but two new Tribe members to Tribeca, Hugh and Laura.

Hugh joins us from Hawthorn FC 🟡🟤 having embarked on a career transition to financial advice. Laura has most recently been travelling and working in Ireland and Canada (aka living her Good Life).

Hugh says his version of a Good Life is, “Having a job that I enjoy, aligns with my interests and supports my pursuits outside of work. This includes plenty of time spent with friends and family, mostly revolving around good food and drink. Travelling throughout the year to either relax (find some sun!) or adventure, experience new cultures, foods or big sporting events, visit friends interstate or get together for a golf trip.”

For Laura, a Good Life is “…managing to balance work, health, relationships and fun - and the goals I set for myself in each area of life. It looks like maintaining a solid routine whilst having elements of adventure, plus making wise financial decisions whilst still managing to enjoy the small things in life.”

Welcome to the Tribe, Hugh and Laura!

Building something successful is one thing. Knowing when to let go is another.

The strongest succession plans often start with being honest about what you do well, what you don’t, and trusting the right people to step in.
