The state government will fund a new support program to help construction workers facing business pressures and mental health challenges.

The $150,000 ‘RISE’ program will offer builders free access to mentors and coaches, providing help with cash flow, wellbeing and personal issues.

Master Builders Tasmania says the industry is under heavy strain, with most small, family-run operations feeling the pressure of rising administrations.

The 12-month pilot is open to all construction workers and will offer phone, online and in-person support, with the program set to launch in coming weeks.

Minimum pay rates are increasing for eligible employees in the aged care and health sectors, including direct aged care workers and some nurses.

These increases apply from the first full pay period starting on (or after) 1 October 2025.

Note the full increase has already taken effect for some employees so they won’t receive any additional increase as part of these changes.

Reminder for small business: The right to disconnect laws begin on 26 August 2025!

This means that employees can refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact outside work hours, unless doing so is unreasonable.

Millions of Australians will receive a pay rise from next month after the Fair Work Commission announced an increase to the minimum wage.

The increase will come into effect from July 1 this year.
