Admin headaches slowing you down again?

Here’s a 2-minute fix you can actually use. Most tradies forget to snap receipts or skip purchase orders. Try snapping every receipt as soon as you get it. Set Xero to ping you with reminders. Use purchase orders to track what’s coming in.

Simple tweaks, less stress, more time for the real work. Want a few more quick wins? Flick me a message and let’s make admin easy. 👍

Hidden contract traps can cost you heaps.

Ever seen a 'termination for convenience' clause? This one catches people out. It lets the other side walk away with little warning, leaving you in the lurch.

I've seen good tradies lose jobs and money over this. Watch out for vague terms or tight notice periods.

Not sure what your contract really means? Book a free chat. I'm here to help you protect your business. ☕

Stop losing receipts in the ute!

This one’s easy. Next time you grab fuel or supplies, snap a quick photo of the receipt on your phone. Done in 10 seconds, no more digging through gloveboxes or old coffee cups.

Little hacks like this save big headaches later. Want more tips for keeping your books tidy? Flick me a message and let’s have a yarn over coffee. ☕

3 minutes every Friday saves hours later.

Most tradies lose track of receipts mid-week, then spend Sunday night hunting through the ute trying to piece it all together. This one tiny habit changes everything.

Set a Friday arvo timer. Snap photos straight to one folder. Reconcile in Xero weekly.

Done.

Your books stay clean, tax time becomes a breeze, and you actually know where your money's going.

This payment clause could sink your business.

Seen it too many times. A tradie signs a contract with 'payment within 60 days of practical completion.'

Sounds reasonable, right?

Here's the catch. Practical completion can be delayed for months while they fix minor defects. Meanwhile, you've paid your subbies, bought materials, and you're sitting there with no cash flow.

Watch out for vague payment triggers. Get specific dates or milestones instead.

Friday arvo admin sorted in 3 minutes.

Here's the hack: use the same reference number for your quote, purchase order, and invoice. Same day, same number, zero confusion.

Your subbies will thank you. Your bookkeeper will love you. And you'll actually know which job is which when you're chasing payments in a month's time.

Save this one for next week.

Watch out for 'pay when paid' clauses.

This one catches people out all the time. Basically, it means you don't get paid until your client gets paid by their client. Sounds fair, right?

Except when their payment drags out for months, and you're stuck covering wages and materials out of pocket.

I've seen good contractors go under because of this clause buried in the fine print.
