🏀 Meet Tom Slee - Our newest Accountant

A Geelong local, Tom attended Belmont High School, and completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Business Analytics at Deakin University.

He began his accounting career as an Undergraduate in 2025 at his previous firm, progressing to Graduate level after completing his studies.

👖 Denim, trivia and a very worthy cause.

Yesterday, the Davidsons Social Club hosted a fun-filled Jeans for Genes Day Trivia Lunch, putting our general knowledge to the test while supporting children’s genetic research.

The event also gave us the chance to get behind our colleague Pauline and her family, who are taking part in the Ks for Kids challenge.

So far this year, they’ve raised more than $3,300 for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, helping fund vital research into better treatments and cures for children living with genetic conditions. 💙

𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲.
From today, superannuation is no longer something that can be dealt with after the payroll run. Super must be paid with each payroll, and contributions must reach the employee’s fund within 7 business days.

This is not a grace period or transition phase.

From today:
- Paying super late can trigger penalties and interest
- Quarterly processing is no longer compliant
- Clearing house delays are the employer’s responsibility

If super is being paid automatically with wages and consistently reaching funds on time, your process is working.

If it isn’t, compliance issues start immediately and compound with each pay run.

This change is permanent. Getting the process right early reduces risk, administrative rework and future ATO attention.

As another financial year comes to a close, we want to say a very genuine thank you.

To our clients, referrers, colleagues and broader business community - thank you for trusting us, challenging us, partnering with us, and letting us be part of the decisions that matter.

At EOFY, it's easy to focus on the reports, reconciliations and last-minute checks, and forget what it has all been for.

This year has been a special one for Davidsons, as we celebrated 120 years of working alongside businesses, families and communities. A milestone like that is never really about the number. It is about the relationships, conversations and shared progress built over time.

But as we close out the year, we'd rather focus on the businesses we have helped strengthen, the decisions we have helped clarify, the opportunities we have helped unlock, and the flow-on impact our clients create in their teams, families, industries and communities.

That is the part we never take for granted.

If you have used the ATO Small Business Super Clearing House, make sure you download and save all reports before 30 June 2026.

After this date, SBSCH access will no longer be available. That means no ability to retrieve:
- Contribution payment history
- Employee and fund reports
- Evidence of super payments for audit or dispute purposes

These records may still be required for compliance, reconciliations and future reviews.

For certain services, we’ll be legally required to complete additional checks before we can proceed. This may include verifying identity, understanding ownership structures, or requesting supporting information. These checks will only apply where the law requires them and are based on the specific services being provided.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲?
The government is expanding Australia’s AML/CTF framework to include professional services such as accounting. The aim is to reduce financial crime and bring Australia into line with international standards.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻
• Keeping the process as simple and streamlined as possible
• Only asking for information when required
• Protecting your data and handling it securely
• Minimising disruption to your day‑to‑day dealings with us

We’re already updating our systems and processes ahead of the 1 July start date, so we’re ready when these changes come into effect.

If we do need extra information from you in the future, we’ll explain what’s required and why. As always, our priority is supporting you while meeting our legal obligations.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆.

By now you should have:
- Stopped quarterly super processing
- Moved fully to per‑pay super payments
- Confirmed SBSCH is no longer part of your process
- Tested real‑world payment timing

If any of these are still unresolved, the risk of late super from 1 July is high.

🎓 Big congratulations to Elvina from our Audit team on officially graduating as a Chartered Accountant.

Elvina joined Davidsons in 2020 after beginning her audit career in Mauritius, and has since built an impressive career here in Australia - now bringing more than 10 years of audit experience to the team.

And clearly, she likes it here. Her brother has since made the move from Mauritius to Australia too, joining Elvina in our Audit team - so we’ll take that as a pretty glowing internal review.

Completing her CA while working full-time is already a serious achievement. Doing it while relocating countries, continuing to grow her career, and getting married along the way? That deserves an extra round of applause.

Since joining Davidsons, Elvina has become an integral part of our Audit team. She was promoted to Senior Auditor in July 2025 and has developed a strong focus in the not-for-profit sector, where she does what great auditors do best: balances the compliance piece with practical insights that help clients get real value from the process.

She’s highly organised, deeply committed, and brings a work ethic that sets the standard. But just as importantly, Elvina helps shape the culture of our team. She supports junior staff, shares her knowledge generously, and is someone people genuinely love working with.
