Never click on any links in emails or text messages claiming to be from the ATO informing you of a tax refund or outstanding payment. If received delete immediately. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a myGov notification you have received, go directly to my.gov.au and sign in to check your myGov Inbox.
Never give out any personal information unless you can independently verify the identity of the person or organisation you are providing it to.
The ATO and other government organisations will never ask for payment by cardless cash codes, cash deposits or gift cards.
If you believe you’ve been targeted by a scammer report it to our team on 132221.
