New Australian AML/CTF Laws for Accountants

Client Identity Verification Requirements

• As of today, 1 July 2026, accountants — including us — will be required to verify client identity under Australia's new AML/CTF laws.
• If you've banked, bought a house or set up a super fund recently, the process will feel familiar.
• I will be asking for things like certified ID and details of beneficial owners for trusts and companies.
• These are standard checks now required of every accounting firm under Australian law.
• They aren't about questioning your integrity — they're about closing the gaps that allow criminal networks to misuse legitimate professional structures.
• I will be in touch when i need anything from you, and i will make the process as straightforward as we can.
