One October change. Three things to check before it arrives. 💳

From 1 October 2026, eftpos, Mastercard, Visa and American Express have announced no-surcharge rules for card payments on their networks.

If your business currently adds a card payment surcharge, now is the time to:
1. Speak with your payment provider about terminal and invoice settings.
2. Review how card acceptance costs are reflected in your pricing.
3. Check that credit card surcharges charged before 1 October are treated correctly for GST.

Under the ATO's GST ruling, a credit card surcharge follows the GST treatment of the underlying sale. Taxable, GST-free, input-taxed and mixed sales can require different handling.

The change applies to fees added because a customer pays by card. It does not cover weekend, public holiday, booking or service fees.

A good day on the course, and an even better reason to be there. ⛳

On Friday, Darren, Adam, Harry and Henry represented Halpin Partners at the CBA Charity Golf Day, while Renee and Amy looked after our sponsored hole.

Together, the day raised more than $20,000 for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, the largest total the event has raised to date.

The funds will go towards a bedside ultrasound for the Sub-Acute Care Unit on Oregan Street, helping patients access faster diagnostics without unnecessary trips back to the main hospital.

We were very pleased to support a day that will have a real impact on local patients and their families.
