Our team gets around quite a bit, with the AMD footprint stretching from Geraldton through to Albany, and across to Mandurah, Donnybrook, Perth, Bunbury and Margaret River.

So, we’re pretty happy to welcome a new (and third branded) vehicle to the fleet and get it out on the road servicing our clients and communities across WA.

A big thank you to the team at Bunbury Subaru and Subaru Australia for their support, and to Aaron and the team at Astral Signs who have now completed the signage across all of our AMD vehicles. We think they’ve done a great job!

If we had a dollar for every time someone asked us this, we'd have a very interesting tax return.

A couple of things worth knowing:

✅ You can't claim something just because it came out of your business account. And you can't claim the full cost of something you use personally half the time.
✅ If you're not sure, the answer isn't to guess, it's to ask.

Test your tax knowledge with two truths and a lie. No Googling! Can you spot which one's the lie?

The ATO already has your bank interest, employer income, and health fund data before you even lodge.
You can claim up to $150 in laundry costs for a work uniform, no receipts needed.
Cash-in-hand income under $10,000 doesn't need to be declared.

How well do you know your stuff?

Most people assume a late tax return means a slap on the wrist and a small penalty.

The ATO can issue a Failure to Lodge penalty, which accrues for every 28 days your return is overdue, up to a maximum that varies depending on the size of your business. For larger businesses, that number gets uncomfortable quickly.
There's also the interest angle. If you owe tax and you're late, general interest charge starts adding up from the original due date. The return being late doesn't pause the clock on what you owe.

The other thing people don't always consider: a history of late lodgements can affect how the ATO deals with you down the track. It's not a one-off, it becomes part of your compliance profile.
If you've fallen behind, the best move is to get in touch sooner rather than later.
