How much super do you really need to retire? It’s one of the most common questions we hear, but there is no single figure that suits everyone.

The right amount depends on the retirement you want to live, whether that includes travelling, helping family, enjoying more time with the people you love, or simply feeling secure about what lies ahead.

Our latest blog looks at the factors that shape how much you may need, the common mistakes to avoid and why good retirement planning starts with your life, not a generic benchmark.

This information is general in nature and does not consider your personal circumstances.

The honest answer is that there isn't one figure that suits everyone. Retirement is personal. It depends on the lifestyle you want to live, your health, whether you own your home, your spending habits, and how long your retirement may last.

The tax landscape for retirement planning keeps shifting, here's what's currently on the table.

From 1 July 2027, the proposed changes would replace the 50% CGT discount with an indexation approach, alongside a proposed minimum 30% tax on net gains, potentially affecting assets bought before 1985 for the first time.

There's also a proposed minimum 30% tax on trust distributions, which could change how families and business owners use discretionary trusts.

Nothing here is locked in yet, but it's worth knowing what's proposed so you're not caught off guard. If any of this could affect you, let's talk it through.

With you all the way.

Every flourishing retirement starts with a seed planted early. Whether that's your super, your savings, or simply a plan you can follow, the earlier it goes in the ground, the more room it has to grow.

It's never too early, and it's never too late, to start planting.

Still ticking off the travel list? Good.

Retirement planning isn't about giving things up, it's about making sure you can keep doing what you love, for longer.

If travel is part of your future, it should be part of your plan. Let's make sure the two line up.

Retiring in 2026? Here are four moves worth making before you do.

1. Plan your spending. Your costs don't stay the same in retirement. Understanding how they evolve over time puts you in control of what your lifestyle actually looks like.

2. Claim your entitlements. Many people miss out simply because they didn't know to apply.

3. Manage longevity risk. The greatest financial fear in retirement is running out of money. Getting your exposure to growth assets right from the start matters more than most people realise.

4. Spend with confidence. A well-structured plan is about knowing you can spend freely and still leave something behind for the people you love.

If you're approaching retirement and want to make sure these boxes are ticked, a complimentary discovery call is a good place to start.
