We love a good team social at Stream Financial! This week we ventured out to the Maroochy River Golf Club for a friendly (highly competitive) game of mini golf. Wonderful weather, good company and fabulous food. It's always nice to take the time out of the office environment to chat and catchup with everyone.

Budgeting on an irregular income is a different skill altogether.

As a sole trader or freelancer, you're managing tax set-asides, your own super, slow-paying clients, and quiet months, all without the safety net of a regular pay cheque.

A few things that make the biggest difference: budget from your lowest expected income, separate business and personal finances, set aside 25 to 30% for tax plus 12% for super in a dedicated account, and build a 3 to 6 month cash buffer before anything else.

Two reasons to pop into the office this Thursday
1️⃣ It's Jeans for Genes Day! We'll be in our denim raising money for kids with genetic diseases, so bring a few gold coins along as every dollar helps.

2️⃣ Come and meet Caio, our newest, friendly face behind the front desk. Caio moved to Australia from Brazil after a holiday on the Sunshine Coast left him completely won over by the region – he simply couldn't stay away.
Pop in, say g'day to Caio, and chuck a few dollars in the jar for a great cause. See you soon!

Thanks to the generosity of our team and the support of our clients, we’ve donated $960 to the Leukaemia Foundation last quarter. Every fortnight, our amazing team members chip in just $5 to our workplace giving program. At the end of each quarter, Stream Financial matches that amount, and then Charitable Foundation doubles it-turning a few gold coins here and there into a genuinely big impact.

A massive thank you to all our wonderful clients who popped into reception and voted in our "Be Part of the Change" poll! Your vote helped steer us toward this incredible cause.

The Leukaemia Foundation supports Australians facing blood cancer, providing accommodation, transport, emotional support, and advocacy so patients and their families can focus on what matters most; getting well. Learn more about the amazing work they do here: 👇

Market noise is constant. Discipline is what separates investors who stay on track from those who react their way into costly mistakes.

Watching a portfolio dip can spark anxiety. Watching a sector rally can spark FOMO. Neither feeling has much to do with your actual financial goals, and the investors who remember that tend to come out ahead.

A few ways to keep emotion out of the equation:
✅Spread the risk across a diversified portfolio
✅Widen your timeframe (a 10-year chart tells a calmer story than a 10-minute one)
✅Automate your contributions so momentum doesn't rely on willpower
✅Name the emotion driving the urge to act

A lot happened in the April to June quarter. Here's the short version.

The US and Iran reached a peace deal in June, oil fell from US$126 to below US$70, and sharemarkets rallied to record highs. At home, the RBA raised the cash rate to 4.35% in May before pausing in June, adding around $225 a month to repayments on a typical $500,000 mortgage.

The Federal Budget also rewrote the rules for property investors. From 1 July 2027, negative gearing will only be available on new builds. If you own or plan to buy an investment property, it's worth reviewing your strategy.

Despite everything, the ASX 200 closed the financial year up around 3.5%.
