We're proud to sponsor local community events and initiatives, and The Sunday K is a great example of what can be achieved when a community bands together.

Started by Armidale local James Harwood, what began as a weekly 1km swim in Armidale is growing, with The Sunday K now bringing people together across Armidale, Guyra and Inverell.

Our Director, Matt Meehan, has been involved since the beginning as a founding member and regular swimmer, so this is a sponsorship that's particularly close to home. And we're proud to support The Sunday K as it continues to grow and bring more people together in our regional communities.

Running a business means juggling plenty of moving parts, and staying on top of your compliance obligations is one of them.

That's why, each month, we share the latest updates, important reminders and practical insights in our Advisory Partner newsletter, helping you stay informed about the things that matter to your business.

And with the September quarter coming to an end, there are a few important things worth having on your radar:

• Payday Super: Are your super contributions reaching employees' funds within the required timeframe?
• Contractors: Do your current arrangements meet superannuation obligations?
• Business vehicles: Are your vehicle records consistent with how they're actually used?
• BAS & bookkeeping: Are your records up to date ahead of the September quarter?

Taking a little time now to review your records can help you stay prepared and avoid unnecessary stress down the track.

In July, our Advisory Partner leaders came together from across our regional offices for three days of planning, learning and conversations about how we can continue to do better for you, your families and your businesses.

Our 2026 Leaders’ Conference was an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and focus on what matters for the years ahead, including:

• Preparing for the significant proposed tax changes.
• Supporting families through farm and business transitions.
• Investing in technology to create more time for what really matters: you
• And continuing to champion the regional communities we call home.

As things continue to change and evolve, our commitment remains the same: helping you grow with clarity and confidence, make informed decisions and plan for what’s ahead.

From Payday Super and updated ATO rates to reporting requirements for digital platforms, there are a few tax and compliance changes worth having on your radar:

• The cents per kilometre rate has increased to 91 cents per kilometre.

• The way Super Guarantee shortfalls are managed is changing under Payday Super.

• If you earn income through platforms such as Uber, Airbnb, Airtasker or similar services, the ATO is receiving more information directly from these platforms.

• If you have an ATO debt that’s currently on hold, it’s worth reviewing your position rather than assuming it will stay that way.

There are also a number of bookkeeping, BAS, payroll and reporting dates to keep across as we settle into the new financial year. We’ve pulled the key updates and reminders together in our latest tax and compliance update.

Earlier this year, we were proud to support the Childers Show as a Platinum Sponsor – an event that holds a special place in the local community, and an even more personal connection for one of our team members.

Our Assistant Accountant, Meghan Whel, has a family connection to the Childers Show that spans generations. Meghan's great-grandparents were involved with the Show, and today she continues the tradition as Treasurer of the Childers Show Society.

We’re proud to have played a small part in supporting the 2026 Childers Show. Read more about the highlights here: https://advisorypartner.com.au/2026-childers-show-highlights/

What would you do differently if you knew your finances were working towards the life you actually want?

Financial planning isn’t just about investments, super or retirement. It’s about answering the bigger questions:

• Am I on track for the future I want?
• Could I be making better use of what I already have?
• When could I realistically retire?
• Are my current financial decisions helping or holding me back?
• What happens to the plan if life doesn’t go the way I expect?

Your tax return can tell you a lot about where you’ve been, but it can’t tell you whether you’re heading in the right direction.

That’s where financial planning comes in.

At Advisory Partner, we offer financial planning services to help you make informed decisions about your money today, with your longer-term goals in mind.
We’ve explored some of the questions worth asking beyond the numbers in your tax return in our latest article.
