September is a good month to spring clean your deadlines. π
This month, business owners may need to keep an eye on:
21 September
Lodge and pay August 2026 monthly business activity statement.
30 September
Lodge PAYG withholding payment summary annual report if prepared by a BAS agent or tax agent.
30 September
Lodge Annual TFN withholding report 2026 if this applies to your trust.
Not every date applies to every business, but knowing what matters before the deadline sneaks up is always a good idea.

Messy books do not just create admin headaches.
They can affect how confidently you run the whole business. π
In this client story, a wholesale fashion business came to BJT with messy books and poor inventory control.
The business needed better visibility, clearer numbers and a system that could support better decisions.
BJT assisted with the migration to Cin7 and integration with Xero, while also supporting the business with monthly reporting.
The result?
Cleaner books.
Clearer numbers.
Better inventory visibility.
Easier EOFY stocktake.
Issues caught earlier.
Decisions made using current and correct information.
Over time, the business was able to grow without wasting time relying on incorrect information, and was eventually sold for a significant amount, allowing the previous owners to retire.
That is the power of getting the right systems and support in place.

But it can also bring more decisions, more pressure, more responsibilities and a few extra βwait, how are we handling this now?β moments. π
That is where the right support matters.
As your business changes, the support around it should change too.
Your structure, systems, payroll, reporting and advice should all help you move forward with more confidence, not add more stress to the pile.
You do not have to figure it all out alone.

Late super is one of those things that can become expensive, stressful and very annoying very quickly. π
If employee super is not paid on time, employers may need to lodge and pay a Superannuation guarantee charge statement.
For quarter 4, that deadline is 28 August.
The tricky part?
Late super can create extra costs, and the Superannuation guarantee charge is not tax deductible.
So this is not something to throw into the βfuture me will deal with itβ pile.
Future you has enough going on.
Regular payroll checks, clear records and the right support can make a big difference.

August is not here to play around with business deadlines. π
This month includes activity statements, PAYG withholding reporting, taxable payments annual reports, GST elections and late super obligations.
Very glamorous. Very accountant-coded. Very worth staying on top of.
The big thing to remember is this:
Deadlines are much easier when your records are already in order.
If you are not sure what applies to your business this month, do not leave it until the night before with a cold coffee and mild panic.

The structure you started with might not be the structure your business needs now. π
A lot of businesses start simple, and that can make sense in the beginning.
But as the business grows, things change.
You may have more income, more risk, more staff, more assets, more decisions, and more moving parts than you did when you first started.
That is when it becomes worth asking:
Is my current business structure still supporting me?
The right structure can help with risk, tax planning, reporting, visibility and long-term growth.
It is not about making things complicated.
It is about making sure the setup still fits the business you are actually running now.
