Reminder for employers that your Superannuation Guarantee payments are due to be received by your employees Super funds before 28 April 2024.

Payments made using clearing houses may take up to 8 business days to process and it is important to process yoru super payment as early as possible.

The exception to this is the ATO Small Business Clearing House (SBSCH) which is considered paid on the date they are received.

Don’t forget the super guarantee rate increases to 11% from 1 July 2023.

This means you need to calculate super contributions at 11% for your eligible workers for payments of salary and wages you make from this date.

Your super contributions for the current quarter (ending 30 June, due by 28 July 2023) are still calculated at the 10.5% rate for payments of salary and wages made prior to 1 July.

If you use software to help with your payroll, you should check that it has been updated to enable this change for payments of salary and wages you make from 1 July.

Employers: The April 28 (SG) due date is just around the corner – don't miss it! 🫣 Make sure you’re super prepared.

It’s important to pay:
✔️ your employees in full, on time and to the correct fund. Remember that the current SG rate of 10.5% will increase to 11% on 1 July.
✔️ all eligible employees, regardless how much their earnings are.

⚠️ Remember, contributions are only considered ‘paid’ on the date the fund receives them. This means you’ll need to make sure they’re received by the fund on or before the due date – otherwise they’re late.

If you do miss the due date, you’ll have to lodge an SG charge statement... and nobody likes extra paperwork! 🤦
