A recent case reported by Accountants Daily is a serious reminder of just how important GST and BAS compliance can be.
A Perth man was returned to jail after previously being convicted in connection with almost $378,000 in fraudulent GST refunds. The case formed part of the ATO’s Operation Protego crackdown on GST refund fraud.

While this is an extreme case involving deliberate fraud, there’s an important message for every business owner:
