USA citizens and green card holders pay USA tax on their worldwide income, wherever they live. Living in the GCC does not change that.
- Form 1040 is due 15 April. If you live abroad you get an automatic extension to 15 June, but interest runs from 15 April on any tax unpaid.
- Foreign earned income exclusion: up to USD 130,000 of foreign salary for tax year 2025, if you pass the residence or 330-day test.
- FBAR: if your non-USA bank accounts together went over USD 10,000 at any time in the year, file FinCEN Form 114 by 15 April (automatic extension to 15 October).
- Form 8938: foreign financial assets over USD 200,000 at year-end, or over USD 300,000 at any time in the year (single; double both for joint filers), must be reported with your return.
