1) Financial Standby Letter of Credit
A financial SBLC guarantees payment to the seller or the service provider for the goods or the services rendered as per the agreement within the stipulated time frame.

2) Performance Standby Letter of Credit
A performance SBLC is less commonly used compared to a financial SBLC. Performance SBLCs provide a guarantee of completion of a project as per the agreement or the contract. If the service provider fails to complete the project within a stipulated time frame, the bank steps in and reimburses the client.

3) Advance Payment SBLC
Advance Payment Standby LC provides security against one party’s failure to pay the other party’s advance payment.

4) Bid bond/ Tender SBLC
Bid bond/Tender Standby LCs act as a security against failure to complete the project once the applicant has been awarded the bid or the tender for it.

5) Counter SBLC
Also known as a backstop or a protective standby, Counter SBLC is a type of LC issued by a bank in one country to a bank in another country, asking them to issue a new standby LC to their local beneficiary.

6) Direct Pay SBLC
Direct Pay SBLCs act as a security in the instance of financial instability of the applicant. A direct pay standby is irrevocable.

7) Insurance SBLC
Insurance SBLC provides support to the beneficiary in case the applicant has committed for insurance or reinsurance but fails to do so.

8) Lease Support SBLC
A lease support SBLC is issued by the bank representing the tenant to the landlord. The bank generally takes a deposit as collateral for the SBLC. It pledges to pay the rent to the landlord in case the tenant is not able to do so.

Letter of credit (Documentary Letter Of Credit (L/C, DLC) is the bank's obligation to pay the seller of goods or services a certain amount of money in the timely submission of documents confirming shipment of goods or performance of contractual services.
Documentary Letter Of Credit is one of the most important means of financing in the international trade, as the letter of credit is a tool that removes most of risks as from the buyer (importer) and from the seller (exporter). Documentary Letter Of Credit is very flexible and convenient tool of calculations, which have the widest recognition and acceptance in the world.

Revocable Letters of Credit, which can be changed or canceled by the issuing bank without prior notice to the recipient of funds. Revoke of letter of credit does not create any obligation of the issuing bank to the payee. Nominated bank is obligated to make a payment or other operations on a revocable letter of credit, if at the time of their commission they have not received notice of the change of conditions or canceling credit. A letter of credit is revocable if its text does not explicitly state otherwise.
Irrevocable letter of credit is a firm obligation of the issuing bank to pay money in order and the terms defined by the conditions of the letter of credit, if the documents provided for by it, submitted to the bank specified in the credit. Irrevocable letter of credit guarantees that the exporter will make payment to the performance of its obligations, even if an importer wants to abandon the deal. Therefore, exporter, performing a special order, for which most likely will not be another buyer, chooses exactly this kind of letter of credit.
Irrevocable unconfirmed letter of credit. When making an unconfirmed letter of credit issuing bank, providing a letter of credit, is only party that is responsible for the disbursement to seller. Nominated bank has to pay only after receiving the money from the issuing bank. Nominated bank simply acts on behalf of the bank providing credit, so it does not take any risk.
Irrevocable confirmed letter of credit - the obligation of the issuing bank is confirmed by another bank. Confirmation is an additional guarantee of payment from another bank (Bank of the exporter or prime bank).

Bank, confirming letter of credit is committed to pay for documents according to the conditions of the letter of credit if the issuing bank fails to make the payment.

Bank Guarantees

Because of the general nature of a bank guarantee, there are many different kinds:

A payment guarantee assures a seller the purchase price is paid on a set date.
An advance payment guarantee acts as collateral for reimbursing advance payment from the buyer if the seller does not supply the specified goods per the contract.
A credit security bond serves as collateral for repaying a loan.
A rental guarantee serves as collateral for rental agreement payments.
A confirmed payment order is an irrevocable obligation where the bank pays the beneficiary a set amount on a given date on the client’s behalf.
A performance bond serves as collateral for the buyer’s costs incurred if services or goods are not provided as agreed in the contract.
A warranty bond serves as collateral ensuring ordered goods are delivered as agreed.

RWA

Risk-weighted assets are used to determine the minimum amount of regulatory capital that must be held by banks to maintain their solvency. This minimum is based on a risk assessment for each type of bank risk exposure: credit, market, operational, counterparty and credit valuation adjustment risks. The riskier the asset, the higher the RWAs and the greater the amount of regulatory capital required.
