Need to Change Your UAE Corporate Tax Period? Here's What You Need to Know!

The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) allows eligible businesses to apply for a change in their Corporate Tax Period—but only if specific conditions are met.

✅ You may be eligible if:
Your business is under liquidation.
You need to align your financial year for a Tax Group.
You need to align with the financial year of your head office or parent company.
There is a valid commercial, economic, or legal reason.

⚠️ Before you apply, remember:
✔️ Your Corporate Tax Return for the relevant period must not have been filed.
✔️ The application must be submitted within 6 months from the end of the original Tax Period.
✔️ The request must comply with the FTA's approved conditions for extending or shortening the Tax Period.

💡 Key Takeaway:
Changing your Corporate Tax Period is possible—but only if you meet the FTA's eligibility criteria and submit your application within the required deadline.

Understanding the rules in advance can help businesses remain compliant while aligning their financial reporting with operational requirements.

Relocating to Dubai? Think Beyond the Move Plan Your Tax Residency Strategy.

Dubai continues to attract entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals from around the world with its business-friendly environment, global connectivity, and exceptional quality of life. However, relocating successfully requires more than obtaining a visa or setting up a company.
Understanding international tax residency rules is essential to protect your wealth, maintain compliance, and avoid costly mistakes.

📌 Key Tax Residency Insights Every Entrepreneur Should Know:
✅ The 183-day rule is not the only factor determining tax residency.
✅ A company structure does not automatically change your personal tax residency.
✅ Many countries apply strict tax residency "hard stop" rules.
✅ Meeting UAE physical presence requirements is critical.
✅ Tax treaty benefits often require a 183-day presence for a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC).
✅ Documentation alone may not withstand a tax authority audit.
✅ Global regulators increasingly focus on economic substance over form.
✅ Proper planning before relocating can help avoid future tax complications.

💼 Whether you're expanding internationally, protecting assets, or optimizing your global tax position, a well-structured relocation strategy can make all the difference.
