💼𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐌𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐀𝐄?

One of the first questions entrepreneurs ask is: "How much budget do I need to start a business in the UAE?"

The answer depends on several factors, including:

📍 Business Location – Free Zone, Mainland, or Offshore
📍 Business Activity – Trading, Consultancy, E-commerce, Manufacturing, etc.
📍 Visa Requirements – Number of owners, employees, and dependents
📍 Office Requirements – Flexi-desk, shared workspace, or physical office
📍 Government Fees & Approvals – Depending on the jurisdiction and activity

Many entrepreneurs focus only on the license cost and overlook additional expenses such as visa fees, establishment card fees, office costs, compliance requirements, accounting, VAT registration, and corporate tax obligations.

✅ Business License Fees
✅ Visa & Immigration Costs
✅ Office Space Requirements
✅ Accounting & Tax Compliance
✅ Bank Account Setup Support

With the right planning, setting up a UAE business can be more cost-effective than many entrepreneurs expect.

At Alliott Hadi Shahid Chartered Accountants, we help investors and business owners identify the most suitable and cost-efficient setup structure based on their business goals and budget.

📢 UAE E-Invoicing is Coming: Is Your Business Ready?

📅 Key E-Invoicing Deadlines:

🔹 1 July 2026 – Pilot and voluntary implementation begins.
🔹 30 October 2026 – Businesses with annual revenue exceeding AED 50 million must appoint an Accredited Service Provider (ASP).
🔹 1 January 2027 – Mandatory E-Invoicing for businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more.
🔹 31 March 2027 – Businesses with annual revenue below AED 50 million must appoint an ASP.
🔹 1 July 2027 – Mandatory E-Invoicing for remaining taxpayers.

𝐈𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐔𝐀𝐄 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐱-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞?
Most businesses assume yes. The answer is more complicated.

Since June 2023, UAE corporate tax applies at 9% on profits above AED 375,000. Being registered in a free zone does not automatically mean you pay 0%.

To qualify for 0% corporate tax your company must be a Qualifying Free Zone Person. That means:
✔️ Conducting qualifying activities inside the free zone
✔️ Maintaining real operations - office space and employees
✔️ Earning income mainly from other free zone companies or international clients

If your business generates mainly UAE-sourced income - 9% corporate tax may apply to those profits.

In this video Alliott UAE breaks down:
✔️ How UAE corporate tax applies to free zone companies
✔️ What qualifies a company for the 0% tax rate
✔️ The income conditions that protect or remove your tax benefit
✔️ How to check if your free zone company is structured correctly

The 0% rate is not automatic.
It is a position your company must qualify for, and maintain.
