My Why...
People often ask me why I became a financial adviser.
The answer is simple.
Over the years, I've seen too many people reach retirement age only to discover that they can't afford to stop working. Not because they lacked ambition or worked less hard than others, but because they never had the right plan in place.
I've seen the stress that financial uncertainty can place on individuals and families. The worry about whether there will be enough money, whether retirement is possible, and whether years of hard work will be rewarded with the freedom and peace they hoped for.
That is why I do what I do.
I genuinely believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to retire with peace of mind.
Not with fear.
Not with uncertainty.
Not with financial stress.
But with confidence, security, and the freedom to enjoy the next chapter of their lives.
My mission is not simply to help people invest or choose financial products. It's to help as many people as possible live their retirement dream and build a future where they can look forward to retirement instead of worrying about it.
If I can help even one person move closer to that goal, then I know I'm making a difference.

When was the last time you really looked at your financial plan?
Not just your bank balance.
Not whether your retirement contribution went off this month.
I mean actually stepping back and looking at the bigger picture.
Life has a funny way of changing our priorities.
You get married.
You have children.
You change jobs.
Your income changes.
You buy a home.
You start a business.
And while all of that is happening, the financial decisions you made years ago often just continue in the background.
That's not necessarily a bad thing.
But what was right for you five or ten years ago might not still be right for the life you're living today.
Your financial plan should evolve with you.
You don't need to change everything.
Sometimes you simply need to stop, take a step back and ask:
“Is what I'm doing today still taking me where I want to go?”
That one question can be a very useful place to start.

“I can make it to the next petrol station.” 😂
You know the feeling.
The fuel light comes on.
You look at the range…
47 km remaining.
“There's definitely a petrol station nearby.”
Then the range drops to 30 km.
Suddenly you're driving a little more carefully.
Turning off the aircon.
Coasting down hills.
And becoming very familiar with every petrol station on the route. 😂
The funny thing is, we sometimes do the same thing with our finances.
We wait until the warning light comes on before we start paying attention.
Until the savings are running low.
Until retirement suddenly feels much closer.
Until an unexpected expense puts pressure on everything.
Until we realise we haven't really planned for what happens if our income stops.
Financial planning isn't about waiting for the warning light.
It's about knowing where you're going, understanding what you have, and making sure you've got enough fuel to get there.
Because “I'll make it to the next petrol station” isn't really a financial strategy. 😄
Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is check the fuel gauge before the light comes on.

“I’ll sort it out next month.”
We’ve all said it.
The car service gets pushed back.
That cupboard that needs fixing stays broken.
The gym membership we don’t use somehow keeps getting paid.
And that thing we’ve been meaning to deal with?
Next month.
There’s nothing wrong with putting a few things off.
The problem is when we do the same with the things that actually matter.
I see it quite often with finances.
“I’ll start investing next month.”
“I’ll look at my retirement next year.”
“I’ll get my will sorted when I have more time.”
“I’ll look at my life cover when things settle down.”
The problem is, life rarely settles down.
There will always be another bill, another deadline, another weekend away or something else that feels more urgent.
And sometimes, waiting doesn't make the decision easier — it just makes the consequences bigger.
You don't have to sort everything out today.
But perhaps there's one financial decision you've been saying “next month” about for a while now.
Maybe it's time to move it up the list.

You don't need another financial product.
You might need a financial plan.
There’s a difference.
I speak to people who have a retirement fund.
They have life cover.
Maybe an investment or two.
Perhaps a pension from a previous employer.
They’re earning a good income and doing what they believe they should be doing.
But when I ask:
“How does it all fit together?”
Sometimes, there’s silence.
And I understand why.
Life gets busy.
Work gets busy.
Family gets busy.
Financial decisions get put off because there always seems to be something more urgent.
The problem is that having financial products doesn’t necessarily mean having a financial plan.
A plan should answer questions like:
Am I on track for the retirement I want?
What happens to my family if my income stops?
Are my investments working towards a purpose?
What happens if something unexpected happens?
Are the things I’ve worked hard for properly protected?
You don't need to have all the answers.
And you certainly don't need to understand every financial term.
Sometimes, you just need someone to sit down with you, listen, ask the right questions and help you see the bigger picture.
That’s the part of financial advice I enjoy most.
Not selling a product.
Helping someone get clarity.

I’ve realised something about the way I work.
I’m not the financial adviser who wants to talk the most.
I’d rather listen.
I want to understand what’s important to you, what keeps you up at night, what you’re trying to achieve and what you might not have thought about yet.
Because financial planning isn’t really about numbers.
It’s about people.
It’s about the family that depends on you.
The retirement you’re working towards.
The income you’ve worked hard to build.
The things you’ve always meant to put in place, but somehow keep getting pushed to next month.
I believe good financial advice should leave you feeling clearer, more confident and more in control — not pressured into buying something you don't understand.
Maybe that’s why I enjoy what I do.
I get to have real conversations with people, help them make sense of their finances and hopefully give them a little more confidence about the future.
You don’t always need someone to tell you what to buy.
Sometimes, you just need someone to help you see the bigger picture.
And that’s the kind of financial adviser I want to be.

YOUR BANK ACCOUNT ON FRIDAY MORNING: 😎💰
"Let's have some fun!"
Friday arrives.
Salary is in.
The week is done.
So naturally, you deserve to treat yourself a little. 😂
A nice lunch.
A takeaway.
A few drinks.
Maybe that thing you've been wanting to buy.
And at the time, it all seems perfectly reasonable.
Then Monday morning arrives...
YOUR BANK ACCOUNT:
"We need to talk."
We've all been there.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying your money.
In fact, I think you should.
The trick is finding the balance between enjoying your money today and looking after your future self.
Because every rand you spend today has a job.
Some of it is for the life you're living now.
But some of it can also be building the life you want later.
Saving.
Investing.
Paying off debt.
Building a safety net.
Working towards financial freedom.
You don't have to choose between living today and planning for tomorrow.
You just need to make room for both.
So go enjoy your Friday. 🍻
Just don't let Monday-you hate Friday-you. 😂
Have a great weekend!

PAYDAY IS NOT A FINANCIAL PLAN.
There’s something about payday that just feels good.
You check your account.
Salary is in. 😎
For a few hours, you feel rich.
Then the debit orders go off.
The groceries get bought.
The car needs fuel.
The kids need something.
There’s a takeaway.
A few subscriptions.
Maybe a weekend plan.
And suddenly you're looking at your account thinking...
“Where did it all go?” 😂
The problem isn't necessarily that you're spending too much.
Sometimes, your money simply doesn't have a plan before it arrives.
Because if every rand already has somewhere to go, it's very easy for your future to get whatever is left over.
And let's be honest...
There often isn't much left over.
A better approach is to decide what your money needs to do before payday arrives.
Some for today.
Some for the unexpected.
Some for the things you enjoy.
And importantly...
Some for the future.
Investing, saving and preparing for retirement shouldn't depend on whether there's anything left at the end of the month.
Because your future deserves a place in the budget too.
So when payday comes around tomorrow, don't just ask:
“What can I spend?”
Ask:
“What do I want this money to achieve?”
Because payday gives you income.
A plan gives that income purpose.

“I saved R500!”
We've all said it.
You see something you've been looking at.
It's 30% off.
Maybe you didn't actually need it...
But at that price?
How could you say no? 😂
And that's how you end up spending R1,500 to "save" R500.
The interesting thing about money is that we often confuse spending less with saving.
If you weren't going to buy something in the first place, spending R1,000 instead of R1,500 doesn't mean you've saved R500.
You've still spent R1,000.
And this isn't about never treating yourself.
Life is meant to be enjoyed.
It's about becoming intentional about where your money goes.
Because every rand you spend is a rand that can't be used somewhere else.
To pay off debt.
To build an emergency fund.
To invest.
To work towards something that actually matters to you.
Sometimes the best deal isn't the thing that's 50% off.
Sometimes the best deal is walking away from something you didn't need in the first place. 😄
Your bank account might even thank you for it.
