Very fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend a Boardroom Lunch hosted by INN8 Invest, listening to fascinating insights from Prescient’s Chief Invesment Officer.
The global economy, whilst not out of the woods, is not in as bad a shape as we are often lead to beleive.

Busting a Myth: The Average Active Fund Can’t Beat the Market 20/10/2022

Will the debate ever end?
My approach is to ‘hedge my bets’ by utilizing low cost passives and then compliment them with model portfolios which make use of smaller boutique funds which are nimble, flexible and therefore better positioned to compete against the ‘market’…

In reality;

It’s the average investors behavior which causes the greatest harm… on average, its poor estate planning which destroys wealth… it’s not these technicalities which are holding your wealth trajectory back…
On average, there are far easier fixes which can easily be made that will improve your trajectory.

Plan properly, Control what you can, and watch these two strategies jostle, both playing a role in your portfolio.

Busting a Myth: The Average Active Fund Can’t Beat the Market The main passive argument claims it’s a mathematical fact. It isn’t.

Life insurance costs money… So does your vehicle and smart phone insurance…
Sadly most people spend more on their vehicle insurance rather than looking after their loved ones who live on when they are absent…

This serves as a great reminder to insure what matters most—with life insurance.

Unpopular Opinion:
If your parents don't want you to have anything to do with their financial affairs, is it okay then to tell them that you indemnify yourself from ever having to financially assist them in future??

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

The number of people I consult with, sitting in old insurance and investment products, who refuse to consult with an advisor for what ever reason is seriously worrying, and detrimental to their own financial wellbeing.
I just looked into an Investment for someone in her early 60's, it has given her ZERO return over the past 15 odd years... For various reasons...

She certainly is paying the price for her reluctance to consult with a professional!

Ever heard the term 'Sandwich Generation'?
Not a Chicken Mayo drizzled with balsamic glaze on Instagram...

It refers to the generation who financially support not only their children, but their parents as well...
According to Old Mutual's Savings & Investment Monitor COVID-19 Special Report 2020;
The number of people who find themselves 'stuck in this sandwich' of financially supporting both mom and dad, as well as their own children has increased from 27% in 2015, to 42% in 2020!!!

I believe everyone wants to avoid this, but what they doing about it?
Take the time to understand how the planning takes shape; and break the trend of intergenerational dependancy.

A plan, not a fairytale | Lee Oosthuizen The wealth accumulation journey takes on many shapes and forms. People take different paths in life, ranging from corporate careers through to entrepreneurial endeavours. Whether you make your money from farming, property, software development or one of the other numerous career options, the ultimat...

Only 6% can retire | Lee Oosthuizen 17/06/2021

'Africa isn't for sissies...'
This unfortunately holds true when it comes to old age welfare in South Africa as well...
Lets stop sugar coating the reality, and take control of our future.

Only 6% can retire | Lee Oosthuizen Only 6% of South Africans can afford to retire Remember high school, when you were in a class of 34 people trying to find their paths through life? Only 2 of those people will afford to retire in South Africa. The rest will likely be a burden on their families, or worse. Now, you may ... Read more

Read this before you buy-to-let: Part 2 | Lee Oosthuizen At some point, practically everyone considers a buy-to-let opportunity. Most of us grew up being told that property is a fantastic investment and that everyone should get onto the property ladder as soon as possible. Whilst the decision to buy a property to live in is a function of stage of life amo...
