I recently read an article by Henri le Grange, a Financial Planner at Old Mutual —“The Wealth Bridge"
Globally, 70% of wealthy families lose their wealth by the second generation. 90% by the third.
We blame the kids — but the real problem is simpler: we transfer assets, not judgement.
If you died tomorrow, would your children know why you made the financial choices you did? If your answer is no, you haven’t built a bridge – you’ve built a wall with money on the other side.
The fix isn't complicated. Start talking — early. Show them the numbers. Introduce them to your advisor. Let them sit in on real conversations.
Because wealth isn't a document you leave behind — it's a mindset you pass on.
