Can you believe we're already halfway through the year?
If you're like most construction business owners, you've probably spent the last six months focused on keeping projects moving, managing teams and meeting deadlines.
But with six months still to go, now's a good time to take a quick look at the bigger picture.
- Which projects are making you the most money?
- Are you confident about cash flow over the next few months?
- Do you have a clear view of the work you've got lined up for the rest of the year?
If you're not completely sure, you're not alone.
We speak to lots of construction businesses who are busy doing great work but don't always have the time or visibility to step back and look at the numbers.
The second half of the year can bring plenty of opportunities, but also a few surprises.
Need advice lookng over your numbers? Contact us today for a chat.

However, the question is... do businesses have the confidence in their finance to invest in those opportunities?
In our latest blog, we explore the connection between social mobility, business growth, and why strong finance management can help create opportunities for people as well as profit.

Busy doesn't always mean profitable.
Many construction business owners are working harder than ever, yet still feel like they're constantly reacting to cash flow pressures rather than planning ahead.
Often, the problem isn't the workload. It's a lack of visibility over the numbers.
In our latest blog, we explore why financial visibility is so important in construction and what the strongestperforming businesses are doing differently.

HMRC mileage rates are finally increasing - for the first time in 15 years!
From April 2026, the approved mileage allowance for cars and vans has increased from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles.
With rising fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs, this update is long overdue and will make a real difference for employees and business owners claiming mileage.
Key changes:
- 55p per mile for first 10,000 miles
- 25p per mile thereafter
- Effective from 6 April 2026
For businesses, now is a good time to review;
- Employee reimbursement policies
- Expense systems
- Budget forecasts for travel costs
A welcome move from HM Revenue & Customs that better reflects the real cost of business travel.
