Expat Tax Filing Deadline is June 16th !
Due Date and Filing Extension
As a reminder to U.S. citizens and resident aliens who live abroad and have not filed their 2024 tax return, June 16th is the due date to either file a return or file for an automatic extension. The extension to file is not an extension to pay taxes due.
The extension must be filed in a timely manner. We can file your extension electronically before the due date.
IRS Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures
For taxpayers living abroad who are delinquent reporting their financial interest(s) in foreign accounts/assets(i.e. FBAR, forms 8938, 3520 and 5471), the Internal Revenue Service offers streamlined filing compliance procedures. The IRS offers a similar version for taxpayers who reside in the United States.
According to the IRS, taxpayers eligible to use these procedures and who comply with the instructions, will not be subject to certain penalties. The general filing requirements for these procedures include but are not limited to the following:
· You must file tax returns for the most recent three years for which the tax due date (including extensions) has passed. The Form 1040 U.S. Individual Income Tax return must be complete and accurate (including any required forms such as forms 8938, 3520, 5471)
· For each of the most recent three years that an original tax return has been previously filed, you must file an amended tax return which should also include required forms (i.e. form 8938,3520,5471)
· For each of the most recent six years that the FBAR due date has passed, you must electronically file the FBAR(s) with the FinCEN bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department.
Our office can help you file, using the Streamlined Foreign Offshore Procedures! We offer a flat fee filing package, which includes the FBAR and individual tax returns ( including any applicable information returns such as forms 8938, 3520 and 5471). Please contact us for more information and to get started using these streamlined filing compliance procedures! You can email us at [email protected] .

All leaders have two selves. There’s the self we prefer to present to the world – the one that is run by our pre-frontal cortex and is measured, rational, and capable of making deliberate choices. And then there’s the self, run by the amygdala, that is reactive and impulsive and often causes u...
