🏠 Brenham Development Update
This Thursday, City Council will review a proposal for "The Cottages Downtown", a planned cluster development of 32 single-family cottage-style homes on 5.7 acres at 708 Seelhorst Street.
The project by local builder Chelsea Build, LLC would feature individually owned smaller homes with community amenities including green space, walking paths, a pavilion, and preserved mature trees. The proposal includes a private access drive and has been revised to add more parking and privacy fencing.
Attached image shows a concept of what the development could look like.
This item is on the City Council agenda for Thursday, June 4th. If you live nearby or have thoughts about traffic, drainage, neighborhood character, or the overall project, now is a good time to share your feedback with Council members.
📅 City Council Meeting: Thursday, June 4th at 1:00 PM
📍 Brenham City Hall (200 W. Vulcan St.)
Public comments are always welcome. Let’s make sure our community has good input on this proposal.

📋 Capital Improvement Workshop Recap – June 1, 2026
This morning, Brenham City Council held a productive workshop on our city’s 5-Year Capital Plans for utilities and general fund departments, plus a Finance & Accounting department update.
Key discussion areas included:
• Major water infrastructure needs (treatment plant expansion, new groundwater wells, pipe repairs, and main replacements)
• Wastewater lift stations, electric system upgrades, and gas maintenance
• Supporting responsible growth while addressing aging infrastructure and appropriate prioritization of projects
• Long term budgeting to keep services reliable and rates competitive without overburdening ratepayers.
These plans will shape roads, utilities, and services that impact every resident. I appreciate the detailed presentations from our department heads and staff.
Questions? Feel free to reach out.

The infographic I'm sharing about the Texas Public Information Act reflects my personal understanding of the process, it is not legal advice, and I am not an attorney.
My goal is simple: I want Brenham residents to know that this process exists and that you have rights under Texas law. The more informed our community is, the stronger our local democracy becomes.
If you have specific legal questions about a records request or a denial, please reach out to Brenham Office of the City Secretary or a licensed attorney or contact the Texas Attorney General's Open Records Division directly.
Thank you for being an engaged member of our community. 🤝

A sincere thank you to every candidate who stepped forward and ran in this election. Public service is no small commitment, and your willingness to engage in the democratic process deserves real respect.
That said, I won't lie, my inbox, mailbox, and phone are all quietly celebrating the end of campaign season. The texts, the mailers, the robocalls... they've earned a long vacation, and so have we.
Wishing all candidates safe travels on the road ahead, and here's to a productive season of governance for the winners.
