I’m pleased to share that I’ve been officially approved as a Technical Assistance Consultant with Tabor 100.

This role allows me to provide operational, financial, and compliance support to small businesses operating in govcon, and nonprofits receiving grant funds.

This expands Valis Compliance Services into a new, vetted consulting channel and strengthens my work across county, state, and federal contracting environments. I’m looking forward to supporting organizations that are ready for stability, structure, and clear documentation.

Valis Compliance Services is growing.
This month I expanded by pursuing several new contracting channels, including the King County Consultant Roster and the Washington Military Department’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance opportunity. I’ve also submitted my SAM.gov registration and am awaiting activation.

These steps position Valis to support compliance, documentation, and audit‑ready financials across county, state, and federal contracting environments. Momentum is building, and I’m looking forward to the work ahead.

Is it allocable?
Is it allowable?
Is it direct or indirect?

If you're subject to FAR Part 31, your bookkeeping needs to be able to answer these three questions for every expense at your business.

For small businesses, establishing an accounting system that can handle this added complexity is a challenge.

QuickBooks Online can be used.

Use your Chart of Accounts as you normally would.
Use the Class function to map each indirect cost to an indirect cost pool.
Use the Projects function to allocate direct costs to a specific contract.

Contractors with 20+ employees subject to prevailing wage...have you thought about this? I hadn't either until my colleague Nathan explained it to me. Prevailing wage is total compensation.
