🚨 Important Update for Business Owners 🚨
Starting in 2024, significant federal reporting requirements are coming into play as a response to the Corporate Transparency Act enacted in 2021. If you own 25% or more of a small entity involved in real estate or a small business, or hold key roles like president or CEO, you'll need to register in a new federal database.
The registration process, primarily online, includes providing personal details such as name, date of birth, residential address, ID number, and a corresponding document photograph. Address changes must be reported within 30 days.
These regulations are targeted at smaller entities to identify and combat criminal activities like money laundering. Existing companies by January 1, 2024, must register by year-end, and new companies post this date within 30 days. The confidentiality of collected information is emphasized, limiting its use to law enforcement and tax enforcement.
While there are concerns about potential information access beyond law enforcement, the initiative aims to catch criminals. However, questions linger about its effectiveness, given the estimated 30 million initial filings and 5 million new filings annually for the next decade.
Stay informed, and ensure your compliance with these upcoming changes! 💼📑
Massive New Federal Reporting Requirements Will Start In 2024 These new FinCEN regulations will likely prove cumbersome for small business owners.

The IRS announces increase in standard mileage rate for business use for 2024.
The IRS has announced that the optional standard mileage rate for business use of a vehicle will increase by 1.5 cents from 2023. The new rates for 2024 will be 67 cents per mile driven for business use, 21 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes for qualified active-duty members of the Armed Forces, and 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations. These rates apply to electric and hybrid-electric automobiles, as well as gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. Taxpayers are reminded that under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, they cannot claim deductions for unreimbursed employee travel expenses or moving expenses, unless they are members of the Armed Forces on active duty. Taxpayers have the option of using the standard mileage rate or calculating the actual costs of using their vehicle. Leased vehicles must use the standard mileage rate method for the entire lease period.
