How does a tax preparer spend the “off-season”? Doing more tax training, of course.

Since this is my first year in business, I haven't actually experienced a full “off-season” yet (or a full "on-season" for that matter 😂). But one thing I've learned already is that there is always something new to learn in this industry.

Right now, I'm taking advantage of having a little more breathing room to work through additional trainings, whether that's something completely new to me or a skill I could use a refresher on, and keep building the systems and processes that will make next tax season better than the last.

This week, I completed the IRS-provided due diligence training for paid tax preparers, including requirements surrounding the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

I'm also grateful for the Girl Code Tax Agency team, who have been encouraging us to use this time to focus on additional trainings and continuing education. Having people around you who encourage you to keep learning and growing makes a difference, especially when you're building something from the ground up.

And now I'm curious...

Do you have a unique tax situation? Something you've always wondered about, or a tax question that makes you think, “I wonder how that actually works?”

Send it my way! I'm looking for new areas to study and dig into during the “off-season.” I may not know the answer yet, but there's a pretty good chance you've just given me something interesting to research.

Yes, this is ACTUALLY what I do for fun! 🤷‍♀️

🧩 Tip Tuesday – Farm Focus

This week's tip:
Gather Your Farm Paperwork This Week!

Before harvest season ramps up, take some time to gather the paperwork you've received so far this year. Once harvest gets busy, it's easy for documents to get tucked into the truck, the office, or the kitchen counter and forgotten until tax season.
Now is a great time to track down what you have and request copies of anything you're missing while it's still fresh and easy to find.

Start looking for things like:
• Grain settlement sheets
• Government program payment notices
• Equipment purchase receipts
• Receipts or documentation for tax-exempt purchases
• Seed, fertilizer, chemical, and feed receipts
• Fuel receipts, if you keep them
• Custom hire invoices
• Land rent documentation
• Crop insurance or other farm payment records
• Any other farm-related paperwork you've received this year

You don't have to have everything perfectly organized today. The goal is simply to start gathering it before harvest season gets busy.

And if you can't find something, now is a great time to request another copy rather than trying to track it down months from now.

Future you will be forever grateful! 🚜

🧩 Tip Tuesday – "Small" Business Blast

This week's tip:
Start Getting Your 2026 Business Expenses in Order Today!
A few minutes today can save you hours next spring.

You'll notice the quotation marks around "Small" Business Blast. That's intentional. Around here, we know that "small" doesn't always mean small. Whether you're a side hustler, a one-person business, or serving hundreds of clients and bringing in six figures, this series is for you.

For many business owners, summer is a season of chauffeuring kids, trips to the pool, family vacations, and trying to fit your business into whatever time is left. We're getting the things done that have to get done, while some of the "extra" tasks wait for a quieter season.

Well, now is the time to take advantage of that quieter moment.
As schedules begin to settle into the new school routine, set aside a little time each day to get your 2026 business expenses organized. If you haven't looked at them since March, don't worry! You don't have to tackle everything at once.

Even 10 minutes a day now can be much easier than trying to piece together three months (or an entire year) of expenses in the spring.

Start where you are, work through them a little at a time, and give your future self one less thing to worry about when tax season arrives. 🧩

🧩 Tip Tuesday – Let's Get Organized

Welcome to Tip Tuesday!

Each Tuesday, I'll be sharing simple, practical tips to help you feel more confident about your finances and taxes. From organization and financial habits to tax law updates and year-end planning, my goal is to help you make informed decisions—whether you prepare your own taxes or work with a professional.

This week's tip:
📁 Create Your 2026 Tax Folder

As summer winds down and everyone gets back into routines, take five minutes this week to create a folder labeled "2026 Taxes."

Over the next several months, documents like property tax bills, charitable donation receipts, business expenses, and other tax records will begin to arrive. Having one place to keep them can save you hours of searching next spring.

Want to take it one step further? I'll share a printable checklist in the comments that you can attach to the front of your folder and check off as documents come in.

But don't overthink it! Even if all you do this week is create the folder, you're already setting yourself up for a smoother tax season.

A few minutes today can save you hours next spring. 🧩

One of the most important decisions I made when launching Boker Tax & Accounting was choosing not to do it alone.

We all like to think we can handle everything ourselves, but I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t come from pretending to know all the answers. Confidence comes from surrounding yourself with people you trust and having the right resources when something complex comes along.

That’s why I intentionally chose to align with Girl Code Tax Agency.

Girl Code Tax Agency is a nationwide tax agency that equips independent tax professionals with advanced training, continuing education, industry resources, and the support of an experienced network. It’s a partnership that allows me to continue serving my clients personally while having the backing of a larger team when unique situations arise.

I wanted to build a business where my clients would never have to choose between personalized service and experienced expertise.

With this partnership, they don’t have to.

When you trust me with your taxes or your business, you’re not just getting one tax preparer, you’re getting the confidence of knowing there’s an entire network of experienced professionals standing behind me.

You receive the personalized service and relationship of working with someone local who knows you, along with the resources and support typically associated with a much larger firm.

As an added bonus, this partnership also allows me to offer services like refund advances and other resources that wouldn’t be available through a standalone practice.

I truly believe this partnership gives my clients the best of both worlds, and I’m excited for what it means for those I have the privilege of serving.

I am so excited to officially announce the launch of Boker Tax & Accounting, something I’ve been working toward for years!

I get to combine my love of numbers, teaching, and logic puzzles to help individuals and small businesses tackle one of their most dreaded tasks… taxes.

I know most of you are probably wondering how anyone could actually love taxes (yes, I said love 😆), and honestly, I get it. But to me, it’s one big puzzle. I love learning tax law, finding opportunities people didn’t know existed, and helping people make the most of their money while staying within the rules.

This business is the culmination of years of learning, planning, and hard work, and I’m incredibly grateful to finally share it with all of you.

Whether you’re looking for someone to prepare your tax return, help you navigate a tax question, or support your small business, I’d love the opportunity to help.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me along the way. Here’s to new beginnings!
