🚨 TAX SEASON 2027 IS SLOWLY APPROACHING🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
🗓️ We’re getting closer to another tax season, so here are a few FRIENDLY REMINDERS from Sisi’s Tax Preparation LLC to help you get prepared EARLY! 💰📑
📬 1. UPDATE YOUR MAILING ADDRESS
Please make sure your mailing address is up to date with ALL previous and current employers. Remember, your W-2 is sent to the address your employer has on file. If you moved, it is YOUR responsibility to notify your employer of your new address. Don’t wait until January to start looking for missing W-2s!
💵 2. BEEN CLAIMING EXEMPT ALL YEAR? PLEASE PAY ATTENTION!
If you’ve been claiming exempt since January, now is a good time to review your withholding. Claiming exempt can mean little or NO federal income tax has been withheld from your checks, which can affect your refund or even cause you to owe at tax time.
Having dependents does NOT automatically guarantee a refund. Your income, withholding, credits, filing status, and other factors all play a part in determining your final refund or balance due.
🔐 3. UPDATE YOUR ID.me ACCOUNT NOW!
If you use ID.me and have changed your phone number or email during the year, PLEASE make sure your ID.me account information is updated and that you can successfully log in.
Please DO NOT wait until tax season when you need to access your IRS account or retrieve information related to your Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) to find out you’re locked out. Handle those login issues NOW! 😩
👧🏽👦🏽 4. PARENTS OF MINORS WITH IP PINs
If your child under 18 has an IP PIN, make sure the IRS has the correct mailing address for them. Keep all IP PIN notices in a safe place and make sure you have the correct PIN when it’s time to file.
🧾 5. SELF-EMPLOYED CLIENTS — KEEP THOSE RECORDS!
Please keep up with your business income AND expenses throughout the year. This includes:
• Receipts
• Cash App transactions
• Zelle payments
• Square/merchant statements
• Bank statements
• Mileage records
• Business expenses
• 1099s and other income documents
Good recordkeeping makes tax season MUCH smoother and helps prevent unnecessary delays while we’re preparing your return. 📊
🏥 6. MARKETPLACE INSURANCE — PLEASE READ!
If you had health insurance through the Marketplace, PLEASE DO NOT throw away your Form 1095-A when you receive it!
If you previously enrolled in Marketplace insurance and aren’t sure whether the coverage was canceled, CHECK BEFORE TAX SEASON. A 1095-A may be required to properly complete your tax return, so we need to know about Marketplace coverage before filing.
✨ DON’T WAIT UNTIL JANUARY TO GET TAX READY! ✨
Taking care of these things NOW can save you a lot of time, stress, and delays once tax season begins.
As always, THANK YOU to all of my new and returning clients for your continued support! ❤️ I appreciate each and every one of you.
