Not because I enjoy it. Because I’ve seen what happens when no one says it out loud.

The expense that keeps growing. The service that isn’t paying for itself. The cash gap everyone feels but nobody names.

Those conversations aren’t about blame. They’re how a business owner gets back in the driver’s seat.

If you want a bookkeeper who only sends you the report, there are plenty of those. I’d rather be the one who tells you what it means.

The IRS just raised the reporting threshold for 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC from $600 to $2,000 per contractor, starting with 2026 payments.

This is the first change to that threshold since 1954.

What this means for you: you may issue fewer 1099s this year — but you still need to track every payment to every contractor, because you won’t know who crosses $2,000 until the year is over.

Now’s the time to start organizing, not in January.

I spend my days helping other people build something stable.

Some days I forget to ask myself what I’m building.

I don’t always have it figured out either. I just happen to be good at helping other people figure theirs out.

Maybe that’s the honest version of this work, not having all the answers but knowing how to ask the right questions. For others, and eventually, for yourself too.

❌ Missing out on deductions simply because you didn’t know they counted.

This one’s sneaky. It’s not about losing paperwork — it’s about not knowing what actually qualifies. Home office costs, mileage, software subscriptions, professional development... a lot of business owners are paying more in taxes than they need to, simply because nobody ever walked them through what’s deductible.

Q4 is the perfect time to take a real look — while there’s still time to plan, not just react in April.

This is exactly the kind of thing that’s easy to miss on your own, and easy to catch with the right eyes on your books.

A duplicate payment. A subscription that should’ve been cancelled months ago. An invoice sent twice by accident. On their own, these things look small, a few hundred dollars here, a missed detail there.

But add them up over a year, and they quietly become thousands of dollars walking out the door. Money the business owner didn’t even know they were losing.

That’s the part of this job nobody sees. Not the spreadsheet. Not the software. The catch, the moment something gets flagged before it turns into a real problem.

🗓️ September 15th is a big one!

If your business is taxed as an S-corp or partnership and filed for an extension, this is your deadline to get those returns finalized.

It’s also the due date for Q3 estimated tax payments so if you’re self-employed or your business doesn’t withhold taxes throughout the year, make sure this is on your radar.

Not sure where you stand? That’s exactly the kind of thing we help you stay ahead of so nothing sneaks up on you in October.

There’s a specific moment I live for, when a client hands me a mess of transactions, missed categories, and “I have no idea where this money went,” and a few weeks later, they can actually see their business clearly for the first time.

That shift is the whole job to me. Not the spreadsheets. Not the software. The moment someone goes from overwhelmed to in control.

If your books feel like chaos right now, that’s not a failure. That’s just where we start.

Q4 has a way of sneaking up. Between end-of-year sales, holiday chaos, and everything else on your plate, bookkeeping is often the first thing that gets pushed aside, until January hits and you’re staring at six months of unreconciled transactions.

By then, you’re not just catching up. You’re trying to remember what happened months ago, chasing down receipts, and starting the new year already behind.

The businesses that go into January with confidence are the ones who took a real look at their books before the year ended, not after.

If it’s been a while since you checked in on yours, now’s the time.

I’ve had clients stare at a number and freeze, not because it was bad, but because they didn’t know what it meant.

A high revenue month can hide rising costs. A low bank balance can be totally fine if you know what’s coming. The number alone doesn’t tell the story.

What actually helps is asking: what is this number telling me about my business, right now?

That question (more than any report) is where real financial decisions start.

This is the part of bookkeeping people don’t talk about enough. It’s not just about the numbers. It’s about what they mean for you.

It’s easy to feel like business is going well when cash is coming in. But if you’re not tracking your accounts receivable, you might not notice the pattern until it’s already hurting your cash flow.

Who owes you? How much? And how long has it been outstanding?

Without clear visibility, “slow payers” can quietly become unpaid invoices and that’s money you’ve already earned, just not collected.

Your books should tell you exactly where that money stands, every time.
