Our Story
To understand me, you have to understand my story.
My parents immigrated from China to the US to set up a better life for our family as do any immigrant. A family that started out as three became a family of 9. Yes, you read that right, 9. My father started out working as an auto mechanic and later became a farmer. As with any business, you have to complete your books and file your taxes. With my parents not speaking or understanding English very well, they needed to find someone who does. Like everyone, they were referred to someone.
As I was growing up through the years, I have noticed not every bookkeeper or accountant is the same. Some will do the minimalist work without explaining what they did. They get to the bottom line and say "Here you go". My parents did not question the person completing their taxes because in their mind they are thinking, "they're the experts, so it should be correct." With language barriers and lack of education, my parents have no idea if they have been taken advantage or not.
This was when I decided I wanted to learn more about the business world and how accounting works. I wanted to help people like my parents overcome the language barrier and the lack of education to help themselves. I've completed both my Bachelors and Masters in Accounting and Financial Management, all the while having my own family. Those who done this know it isn't an easy task.
