Jean Chatzky on How to Plan for the 'Forever Paycheck' 09/08/2026

Good morning, Facebook family and friends. Jean Chatzky, author of The Forever Paycheck, appeared on the TODAY Show this morning to discuss annuities and their potential role in retirement planning.
One of the biggest challenges in retirement is turning a lifetime of savings into dependable income that can last. One way to help accomplish this is by incorporating an annuity into your retirement plan. With hundreds of annuity products available from many different insurance companies, it is important to understand the differences. Annuities are not appropriate for everyone. When the need exists, however, the right annuity can be a valuable part of a comprehensive retirement-income strategy.
This is a worthwhile segment for anyone approaching or currently enjoying retirement. If you have questions about how an annuity might fit into your retirement plan, reach out to me. As always, I’m happy to help!

Hello Facebook family and friends. Happy September!

September has historically been one of the more challenging months for the stock market. With plenty of economic news and headlines ahead, we could see some additional volatility along the way. But short-term market movements shouldn't dictate long-term financial decisions.

A good financial plan is built with periods like this in mind. Your investment strategy should reflect your goals, your time horizon, your income needs and the amount of risk you're comfortable taking — not what the market happens to be doing on any particular day.

If market volatility has you questioning whether your investments are still aligned with your retirement goals, it may be a good time to take another look at your plan. As always, I'm happy to help!

Hello Facebook family and friends! Welcome to August!

As we begin a new month, it's a good time to step back from the daily headlines and focus on what history can teach us.

What I'll Be Watching This Month:

Seasonality: Historically, August has been one of the weaker months for the S&P 500. While seasonal trends can be interesting, they're not predictive and should never drive investment decisions.

Corporate Earnings: Earnings season continues, providing valuable insight into how businesses are performing and whether current valuations remain supported by fundamentals.

Economic Data: I'll be paying close attention to inflation, employment, consumer spending, and any new information that could influence future Federal Reserve policy.

Portfolio Fundamentals: More important than any single data point is whether anything materially changes the long-term outlook for the companies we own or the financial plans we've built.

Market volatility is normal. History has consistently shown that investors who remain disciplined and focused on their long-term goals are generally better positioned than those who react to short-term headlines.

Whether you're approaching retirement, changing jobs, or simply wondering if you're on track, now is a great time to review your financial plan. If you'd like a second opinion or have questions about your investments, don't hesitate to reach out. As Always, I'm happy to help!

Have a wonderful August!

Hello Facebook family and friends. Happy July! ☀️. I hope everyone is staying cool during this Pittsburgh heat wave and finding time to enjoy the summer with family and friends.

As we begin the second half of the year, July is a good reminder that successful investing isn't about predicting the market—it's about staying focused on a long-term plan.

This month, I'll be keeping a close eye on:
•Second-quarter corporate earnings and company outlooks
•Inflation reports and what they may mean for interest rates
•Employment data and the overall strength of the economy
•Consumer spending trends
•Any developments that could impact retirement and investment planning

My job isn't to predict every market move. It’s to help my clients understand what's happening, separate the headlines from what truly matters, and stay focused on their long-term financial goals.

If you'd like to review your financial plan or discuss how current events may affect your retirement strategy, please contact me. As always, I’m happy to help! And if this heat wave has you staying indoors, I'm always happy to meet by phone from the comfort of your home. Stay cool and enjoy the rest of your July!

This Father's Day, I'd like to recognize all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures who work hard to provide for their families and create opportunities for future generations.

Many of the financial decisions we make aren't really about money—they're about the people we love. Whether it's saving for a child's education, planning for retirement, protecting a family, or creating a legacy, our goals are often rooted in those who matter most.

Today, take time to celebrate the memories, lessons, and relationships that make being a father so rewarding.

Hello FB family and friends. Happy first day of June!

As summer begins, it's a good reminder of why many people save and invest in the first place:
More time with family.
More opportunities to travel.
More flexibility.
More freedom to spend your time doing what matters most.

Retirement isn't simply about reaching a certain account balance. It's about creating the ability to enjoy the life you've worked so hard to build.

A thoughtful financial plan can help turn long-term goals into future opportunities. Whether retirement is right around the corner or still years away, staying focused on your plan today can help create more choices tomorrow. If you'd like to review your retirement strategy or discuss your long-term goals, reach out to me. As always, I'm happy to help.
