The IRS announced relief on October 14, 2026, for 27 Florida counties affected by Hurricane Isaias. The new deadline is February 8, 2027. It covers certain federal deadlines falling from October 9, 2026, through February 7, 2027.
The eligible counties are:
Baker, Bay, Calhoun, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington.
For your clients, these are the key points:
* 2025 personal returns with a valid extension: Today’s October 15 filing deadline moves to February 8, 2027.
* 2025 taxes owed: Payments due April 15, 2026, receive no additional time under this notice.
* Relief generally applies automatically to taxpayers whose IRS address is in a covered county.
Orange County (Orlando) and Duval County (Jacksonville) are currently outside the listed counties, so clients there do not automatically receive this postponement based on location.
