Here's a small win buried in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" tax law: starting with tax year 2026, the threshold for issuing a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC to a contractor or vendor jumps from $600 to $2,000. That means less paperwork and fewer W-9 forms to track down come January. It doesn't mean "skip bookkeeping" though, since you'll still want clean records on who you paid and how much, so when 1099 season rolls around we can tell at a glance who crosses the new line.
