Professor Breen's Individual Tax class visited Van Bruggen & Vande Vegte, PC this week. They toured the office and heard from NWC alum Michael Ten Clay and TJ Korver, along with the HR manager Sue Droog. They gained valuable insights into the accounting industry, the importance of building relationships with clients, and the career journey from earning a CPA license to becoming a partner. Jerron began his career at VB&VV as an intern in January 2024 and joined our team that summer full-time. He serves as an Accounting Associate (CPA).

Jerron has 7 siblings (6 sisters, 1 brother) and more than 35 nieces and nephews! He graduated from Northwestern College with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration/Finance.

“I enjoy coaching baseball for Trinity Christian High School in the summers. I've had the privilege of coaching several of my nephews the last few years, which has been fun. I am a MN sports fan and like to watch/attend Wolves, Wild, Vikings, and ESPECIALLY Twins games. I like to collect baseball cards, play casual golf and pickleball, go to the gym, play video games, and try as many different restaurants in the Sioux Falls area with my girlfriend as we can.”

Jerron enjoys working hard to be a valuable part of the team! He shared: “I like the ins and outs of general accounting more than just tax specifically, and I get to experience different sides of the field as part of the Dairy team, which I enjoy. I have always liked building new tools and resources in Excel for us to use, and I'm often the go-to person for questions in that area. I enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that accounting gives when everything is in its proper place and adjusted/we reach an optimal solution for a client on the tax side. I enjoy the challenges of public accounting and take pride in performing quality work for our clients to the best of my knowledge and ability.”

Jerron enjoys his coworkers and getting to spend time with them outside of the office too! He appreciates the Christian culture, supporting and praying for one another, and the personal relationships he gets to build in a firm our size. “There are realistic expectations for working hours, and the flexibility of the firm in working with its employees' schedules and all the other priorities they have in life is very commendable.”

Several members of our VB&VV team recently spent Tuesday morning serving at ZoeCare in Orange City as part of our annual VB&VV Gives Back service day.

Each year, our firm partners with a nonprofit organization to learn about its mission, support its efforts through fundraising, and volunteer our time to make a meaningful difference in our community.

We helped with deep cleaning, organizing donations, and some exterior jobs! We are grateful to the ZoeCare team for the important work they do in our community. We are proud to invest our time and resources in organizations that make a lasting impact where we live and work.

Rachel recently started as the Firm Administrator in June, and we’re thrilled to have her on our team!

“I grew up in Orange City and have always loved being a part of this community. My husband, Eric, works at Farm Credit, and we have three boys. Logan (Jr. at MOC-FV), Levi (Freshman at MOC-FV), and Kale (6th grade). We don't get much free time, but when we do, I enjoy reading, going for walks, and spending time at Lake Shetek with family.”

She has really enjoyed getting to know the employees and appreciates the welcoming and inclusive environment. “Our culture is fantastic. Everyone treats each other like family, and it's clear that people truly care about one another. Even when things get very busy, I always feel supported and comfortable asking questions.”

Carter had the chance to visit Northwestern Business/Economics classes to share more about his career!

Northwestern alumni Carter Sandbulte and Hannah Van Meeteren recently visited Professor Post's Accounting Senior Seminar class to discuss their experiences transitioning from college to the professional world. They shared practical, real-world experiences with our students including CPA exam preparation, launching a career in accounting and balancing life and work after college. Thank you, Carter and Hannah, for the great conversations!

Farmers and agricultural business owners: An important FSA update could impact your farm program payments.

If you farm through an LLC, S Corporation, partnership, joint venture, or other entity, a new Form CCC-902E must be filed by September 15, 2026. Existing forms will not carry forward, and all farming entities are required to refile.

This change could affect payment eligibility and limitations, making it important to verify your entity's classification and schedule your FSA appointment early.
